Great title for a thread, Håkan! Time for expressive people who opened up new worlds. I guess here is a good place for things one or the other never heard before and can get amazed about, or...maybe not ;-) I guess this guy down below is one of those that i went totally nuts for after seeing him in german television...lots of things i never heard before. Not relaxing, but exciting, at least for me. But well, he may not be everyones cup of tea....but definitely a kind of special genius. Mr. Cecil Taylor:

Great clips! Here's a clip with Gabriela Montero who improvises over classical themes, and even takes requests from audience and members of orchestra. I believe this was a request to do very well known 1st movement of Rachmaninovs 3rd piano concerto in Baroque style! She's soo cool! Even has a glass of wine beside her (perhaps not in this clip) to make it feel more 'like home'. The story goes that pianist superstar Martha Argerich heard her improvise, which she had done all her life, and encouraged her to make it her 'thing'. Not too common in the classical world. Music starts at 1.35.

Two more lovely clip, thanks for sharing Paul&smallbutfine! Should change the title: "Two microphones, a piano and a man / woman's soul!"
