Anyone have Google Fiber? It's gonna be in Nashville after the summer. I think I'm gonna jump hard on it.

Just fucking do it ! Speed Awesome , service awesome !
I was one of the first to get it worth every penny!
The other cool thing is each of the TV boxes acts as a wifi booster! To nothing ever buffers!
In fact WiFi is the limiting factor!
Also TV boxes have Netflix and Hulu apps built in!
Everybody in Nashville this is a no brainer!
My only complaint is the Girls at the Google office were all hired because they are cute not because they have any real knowledge, bite they are all fun to look at so it's not that bad !

I am not jealous............ much... bastards.. As you should be! We went from Time Warner, digital split 100 ways with transformers that didn't have the bandwidth for digital. Between 7-10 pm you couldn't download a movie! The thing was we had TW and ATT fiber 5 3 ft from the building now they are all trying to get us back with Fiber to the building not fiber to the ApT slower speed and higher prices ! Won't happen! |

My Comcast and Directv bill is definitely more than $130...I see on the Google Fiber site that they won't install unless enough people in your neighborhood want it. That's kind've a bummer.

It's simple running a new fiber network is a major PITA! So they start where the Demand is ! In some neighborhoods they were complaining about all the trees they trimmed back to run fiber on poles ! Here they broke a ditch witch trying to drill under the road , Ended up trenching couldn't get in the garage for almost a week! This is a built from scratch infriustructure, they are not subbing on anybody else's fiber lines or network! |

Yeah, glass has that annoying critical angle thing. If you bend it, there's a good chance the light will not refract as intended. It also makes it more brittle at the given point. Fibre glass is also expensive, as is the tubing required to secure it from trucks and busses.
Pretty wild endeavour by a company that the public can't decide is the second coming of Christ or the devil incarnate.
