Im super jelly right now. We're not looking for a house yet (1.5 more years on the lease and we dont own a car) but when we start, I'm gonna want to do the same thing. The only problem is that i live in brooklyn and my wife works in manhattan so we'll never find a house like what you found! Three words: Lawn Guy Land.

Hey Chuck, I'm probably less than two hours from Manhattan so, at the very least, I hope you can come visit once I'm all set up. Same goes for Martin and Jcoutu. We Northeast RGO members need to hang out. rad. we're planning to get something in november, since traveling via subway/bus to my church gigs when the weather sucks ain't fun lol. it'll also open the doors for where we can look for a house.

Things are progressing slowly but surely. Getting the floor put down in the piano room this week. Hoping to get the piano moved in before Christmas. I will try to post some pictures at that point. Control room is basically finished. Just need to load in the gear and start wiring it up. Live room is ready to go except for some trim work and corner traps. Budget disappeared some time ago but I'm having the time of my life getting this to come together.

I got some things going just before wiz got here in october, sitting back and watching him twiddle the stuff was an outside perspective in a weird way, the results of which sounded really great, it made me feel like I hit some smack at the moment haha, good luck and keep at it!

drive.google.com/open?id=0B2Vufcp_M6yuMGh5bDd3UEFmTW8Did that work for bigger photos? I have been wanting to schedule some sort of RGO open house once the place is at the point where visitors can see/hear the results of the renovation. Realistically, that may not be until mid/late summer. I closed on the property July 31st last year, and it would be cool if I could be up and running on the first anniversary but that may be a long shot. Thankfully, I have been very busy with my electrical work ( have to pay for all of this some how ) so I haven't been able to devote as much time to the studio as I would like. Of course, that would be full-time, LOL. Perhaps the somewhat local ( Northeast ? ) RGO people could chime in and keep this in mind. The people I can think of that are within driving distance: Jesse Charles Chuck Martin Kevin There is a nice B&B within walking distance. I will introduce myself to them at some point to find out rates and availability in case anyone wants to make a small vacation out of their visit.

I still can't believe you found this room just sitting there in the house, it was calling to you!
Did you ever meet that musician in the area who told them it was all junk, but secretly tailed the dumpster when it was driving away and stashed all the good stuff? That's my theory anyway...
That room is awesome.

Apparently he was some high school kid related to one of the workers at the Realtor's Office. I suspect he's happy making beatz with his mbox and pirated software.

I just read your story as you bumped the thread. You need to write a book! Amazing story telling.

Update, Fall 2016: This summer was a wash as far as time spent in the studio. Busy with day gig and whatever time I had available to work on the house was spent on exterior repairs and infrastructure. My son disappeared and I'm doing everything on my own again. Getting closer though. Some of the non-glamourous stuff that needed doing: the powder room in the studio needed a new sink/vanity and toilet, as well as a paint job. I avoid painting at all costs. I also had the floor re-done to match the floor in the foyer, which it is adjacent to. I also finally finished the studio lounge with barn-board paneling, tongue & groove cedar ceiling and new sink and cabinets at the kitchenette. This place is going to be very comfortable to work in. Only thing left in there is to repair/replace the treads on the spiral stair. Once that is finished, it's on to repairing all of the cut microphone tie-lines.

Had a nice visit from our own Jesse Cotou yesterday. Still a lot to do here, but Jesse brought some files and was able to pull up a really great mix. The guy's got talent....

Thanks. Ceiling slopes from nine feet in rear to fourteen feet at the front, above the slider going into the piano room.

Please post more and more pictures! A lot of us like stealing ideas on how we might improve our own studios.
P.S. this was my 3000th post

Amazing find but a sad story about the gear! Congrats on finding the place of your dreams! I hope it provides great comfort and the studio cranks out good vibes. Cheers
