Great stuff, and thanks for submitting it. I have put the link to the file in the first post. Could you explain how you passed the audio through the 2192 please... I really like the sound of this. I found I had to drop the volume of the track by about -1.1dB to get it close enough for me for listening against the others. It will be really interesting when Johnkenn submits the Burl to hear it against this, as the same guy designed them IIRC. thanks again cheers Wiz

I thought I would give an insight, into what "I" am sort of listening for in these tests, and what minutia I am using in my own mind to tell the difference.
Well, I sort of listen overall, and just try and catch the "Vibe"
After that I loop the section that is labelled Chorus 2 and solo, Bars 54 through 78.
I listen for firstly, where the snare is, in relation to the vocal, and if it feels sort of further back in depth than one of the other mixes... or how that feeling of depth is between them.
Then I listen to how the backing vocals sound, as they are hard panned L and R. and if they crowd in on the centre. Because apart from the Overhead Tracks, which are half way between left and right everthing else is either L, C or R.
Then in the solo, because its a bit more open in the sonic arrangement, I listen again to the depth difference between the snare and the resonator.
Its interesting, that "today" I hear the same depth relationship, between the Delta Sum and now the 2192.
Its very interesting and really look forward to hearing , perhaps with Bar numbers so we can all dial in to the right spot quickly and easily, other peoples thoughts on what they hear in differnet sections.
Someone needs who has access, to split out the multi tracks onto a Neve and SSL so we can all hear how something we could never afford would sound 8)
cheers

Howdy Wiz,
Short answer - I imported your DAW bounce into Logic, put the I/O plug on the two bus at unity gain and did a real time bounce without normalization.
Longer answer - my 2192 is connected via ADAT (clock from 2192) to a BLA Mod Apollo, then Thunderbolt to an iMac. I do have my pan law in Logic set to "-3dB" as opposed to the default "-3dB Compensated" but I wouldn't think that would matter for a stereo file, and if it did, I would expect it to be some variable of three.
I'm glad you find it pleasing and I'm not crazy. At my studio Apex I was mixing through a combo of Burl and Apogee conversion and some nice analog stuff (1066's, API's, V72's, 672's, 176's, 1176's, 2A's and 3A's).
Over time I just kept simplifying - when I did a pretty thorough shoot out with matching analog and digital signals, I found it was the sound of the 2192 that I loved most. Go figure.
As for listening, I've learned to note my visceral reaction. When my facial muscles tighten, its not good. When they relax, I'm on the right path.

Thanks for doing this Wiz , its a cool song . You have an interesting original voice .
I only Listened to the Delta and ITB mixes .
The Delta sounded more solid and better .
So you ran test tones to level match each signal as it ran through the console and back into the computer ? Cool idea I gotta try it with my music .
Thanks again for the Melodyne !! Everytime I hit the transfer button and listen to my vocals sound like a Robot I think of you .

So - where is the raw file? I don't see it anywhere... Sorry for the confusion. The very first post in this thread, has links to the summing files I did, which includes a ITB sum, which you could use to do the two bus treatment. I see you already grabbed the track files. I am downloading them right now and will have a listen thanks heaps for doing that... will be really interesting to hear the burl and the 526 cheers Wiz

Man - I must have missed it - downloaded those files and looked...must've missed it. Anyway, I did a mix - so you should be able to hear - or not hear - any differences the hardware makes.

Hey wiz, here's some files. I used the Svartbox for round trip DA/AD on the Chandler, Wooly Mammoth, and SVART Round Trip files. I used the SVART DA into a Focusrite 18i8 for that file, so you can hear the difference between the SVART and Focusrite AD stages. drive.google.com/open?id=0Bym1m85ha75Rfk4wazhTT0xKRjEwaDQyOE9keEk3VGQwMFpkYVRmdzRnVURFSllRczdzaEkI slapped these together fairly quickly and my man btreim just combined the mono files to stereo for me. I haven't even given them a proper listen yet. Hey Paul ( unit7), here are some Mammoth and Chandler sounds for ya buddie. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Settings... ![](http://i.imgur.com/2W6RQQq.jpg) ![](http://i.imgur.com/b1j5XQn.jpg?1)

Hey Jesse
thats really very cool.
I downloaded and had a quick listen, whats amazing is how different all of them are.
I have a project with all these different treatments in them, its really amazing.
I like each of them for different things, did you have a favourite?
cheers

I haven't spent much time banging through them, but I think I actually like the Chandler the best. It seems to give the mix the most life to my ears. I'm planning on running it through a couple more pieces of gear, but finding the time is a pain.

I did a listen again today , blind test , opened the session not knowing which was which.............and between the Delta and ITB , the ITB sounded better !!
So I change my answer . The ITB sounded like it was more solid with a better low end .
What converters are you using ? I wonder if the trip out was making the big difference .
