Hmm. I got several racks full of DBX 411 modules for free. They do a thing. Even if you have to buy them, it might be $25 max. Dolby isn't much more these days. Harumph. Never did I dream a Mix knob might ever be the largest knob on an audio processor. Someone should tell us if it's cool. Or justifiably cooler than a Dolby or DBX module in mis-behave mode. Some people only want to buy new.

I haven't tried one, but I remember talking with the guys at SA and while the Dolby trick is the basis for the stretch it can do much more. Hats off to these guys for bringing us modern takes on some old studio tricks. These guys are doing some interesting stuff at great prices and they are doing something different.

interested in the Stretch.... anyone have experience with them now that they've been out for a little while? If so, how are you using them?

I know Rob uses em. If I knew how to tag him I'd do it.... Click the little button with the '@' symbol and the blue shirted dude..... then you can search and tag. Do you mean Rob Schnapf?

Both of their units look like a lot of fun

I was at a nice studio recently, and the owner was raving about his dolby a301, but that thing is a 5u monstrosity, and as I understand it, requires modification as well as a good bit of maintenance. So if the Stretch units can get the same result, it seems like a great alternative.

A little goes a long way..
I've used the Stretch with success on old Crumar and Arp string machines, vocals, bass drum..

I've got a pair .still learning their different modes and what they work on. When you need that Dolby card bypass trick they do It perfectly and a lot more.

Funny, I just bought 2 Dolby 361 units with modded CAT22 cards. Sounds nice, I think no EQ can get you there. Thing is, the quieter the input, the more pronounced the effect is. When the voice gets louder, the effect gets less...
