Four Marshall stacks, probably the insane 45/100 dual output transformer heads. Sonic. It's a beautiful thing

Awesome. You can almost feel the sound pressure in the room.
Poor Mitch, beating the snot out of his kit trying to keep from getting buried in the mix.

Paul was instrumental in getting Jimmy started in England. It was no coincidence that he was there. Just like Beiber was at Mayweather's fight

I found this video too, last night after watching 'Jimi: All is By My Side' on netflix, which is apparently riddled with inaccuracies and fabrications.... but still kind of interesting.

Pardon am I stupid, I cant see John an Paul anywhere in the video?? Yeah four stacks in the old times there was no modern live rig they had to do it this way. Also see the Cream in the Royal Albert Hall.
There is a reason why the players from this decade are all near deaf. Hendrix was right, watch out for your ears.

You can't see John and Paul - but there have long been stories about how many influential people were there that night...

I have a few recordings of Hendrix covering that tune. Back in October, 1968 I saw Hendrix perform at the Hollywood Bowl, one of the most amazing concerts I've ever seem. Vanilla Fudge opened the show.
He did a few 'unusual' selections, including a very rare live rendition of "Are You Experienced". He played the backwards lead guitar part perfectly using the volume control and feedback, I still can't figure out how he pulled that rabbit out of the hat.
During the concert he announced to the crowd that Cream had broken up, no one knew about that and we were all shocked. Then he proceeded to rip out a rousing version of "Sunshine Of Your Love", as far as I know the first time he performed that song. Afterwards we all looked at each other and said, "that will do just fine".
The most weird part was the original "reflecting pool" in front of the stage, a large 1/2 moon shaped pool with 3 fountains. The acid baked hippies all wanted a closer look so about 50 of them jumped into the pool and swam up to the foot of the stage. They were splashing about and a pool of water kept creeping towards Hendrix and his pedals. He was 'informed' by a stage hand and asked several times for everyone to get out of the pool so they wouldn't shut down the concert. I imagine all the spaced out hippies understood as even more jumped in.
Hendrix kept pulling his mic stand and pedals back from the approaching water to not get electrocuted on stage. Some hippies wanted a better view so they started climbing onto the shut off fountains for an 'elevated' seat. The management didn't like that either and eventually they turned on the fountains and all but one of the hippies got blown back out into the pool. The one guy that got suck in the center fountain was in trouble so some hippies reached up and pulled him out, I saw someone working over the guy on the side of the pool, giving him CPR. Fortunately, the show went on to the end and we all went home, I took some 8mm film of it, wish I could find that.
2 months later the reflecting pool was gone and 'orchestra' seats and boxes were installed, probably on recommendation of the Hollywood Bowl's lawyers.

Watched the other (better) netflix Hendrix movie last night.... 'Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train a Comin' .... much better than the Andre 3000 'biopic.' Among other thngs, it covers the sgt pepper show, and has interviews with Mccartney, and lots of others.

I saw Paul at Fenway Park about 5 years ago. He told this story and you kind of get the idea that it was one of his favorite moments. This was probably the only time I've even been to a concert where one guy performed for 2.5 hours and NOBODY wanted to leave after he was done. Definitely one of the best rock shows I've ever seen.

What a moment, check out those facial expressions: John and Ringo look like they're enjoying it, Paul looks understandably surprised and maybe a bit stressed out and George looks like he's decidedly annoyed.
