I dunno, It was the coffee I wanted.
Trident A range flavored to my understanding. I should be able to get some time to put it to work in the next few days.

Don't get me started on the Zen Blend........ There's something special about that coffee that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I've been trying to talk Warren into telling me his supplier for years, but he won't budge! Although he has been very generous in supporting my addiction over the years... especially when I bought a set of PSI monitors Watch out for the caffeine though... even seasoned coffee addicts have been known to get a buzz off of zen blend.

I remember the first time I ordered from Warren and that coffee was in the box..... smelled amazing and my wife quickly forgot about how much money I'd spent because she loved the coffee...... Warren's Kung Fu is strong in some areas for sure.

"smelled amazing and my wife quickly forgot about how much money I'd spent"
I think there is a special G.A.S. that is emitted from the coffee.

Daking is Geoffs updated take on the A-Range but it really has its own sound, Yummy discrete and transformers , clean with enough transformer color Not API or Neve a color of its own.

seasoned coffee addicts have been known to get a buzz off of zen blend. This should never be a problem. Every musician and engineer I have ever met is an accomplished Joneser. Some Jones on certain things, some on everything. It's up to each individual to look (down?) into the mirror and say what's what. But I digress. I bet Zen Blend is great stuff.

Daking is the A-Range circuit only with Jensen transformers. I recently got a mike pre one for my wife's webcasts. It has a THAT balanced output chip rather than the transformer but they have balls for days and clip around +30. It uses a 48 volt outboard power supply. Wish I'd known about the coffee!

Warhead's coffee is the bomb! I need to order something from him so I can get some more of it! The question I have is when will the k-cup version be shipping???

That'd be good for Warren though.

Can't speak to the coffee but the Daking gear has a mid-range punch, a slight lift on the bottom and a rise in the top though it is silky, to me. I bought the gear originally as it was described as being between api and neve.

No doubt Warren's got some mighty good beans. I can't comment on a K-cup version though- I brewed it in a good ol' fashioned percolator: it's still the best way to get my fix - hey, that was how the coffee that won WWII was brewed, so it's gotta be good enough for me!

After decades of mediocrity both Costco and Trader Joes finally sell some decent coffee beans.

I'm in NYC, and get my coffee at Porto Rico Imports. They've been here 1907, and it's the deal. When I got my mic from Warhead, the coffee was a fun surprise. I rarely stray from my main blend,, but it was definitely not mediocre, and much appreciated.
As for the Daking, I was wondering about that line only a few days ago. This place is so great to learn some helpful inside info about things I might never have tried.
Hmmm, maybe I'll have to order a cable or something, just to try the Zen Blend again.

After decades of mediocrity both Costco and Trader Joes finally sell some decent coffee beans. We usually get our coffee from Costco. The Sumatra dark roast or the Rwandan, whichever is in stock. I like to murder my own beans...
Regarding the Daking, put it to some use on acoustic, male vocals and electric guitar and am really digging it so far. The 5db increments on the gain is steeper than I am used to but entirely workable. I could see picking up another and just calling it a day on pre amp end.

Steps? My new Daking Mic Pre One has continuous gain.
We really really like Costco's Don Pablo. My wife likes it with only a touch of sweetener and I like just a few drops of heavy whipping cream. Needless to say we are not exactly fans of $tarbuck's burned coffee. We were using really expensive coffee before we bumbled into this Don Pablo stuff.

I roast my own beans from raw green stuff, hows that for DIY? Sometimes I can't afford it though and i just get by with the cheap crap. Gotta buy gear, you know. Plus there are plenty of great coffee spots in Asheville for a quick fix. This town changed my concept of fresh coffee and fresh beer.

Peets in Berkeley California changed my concept in 1972. Their quality didn't survive Mr. Peet passing away but the $tarbuck's guys lifted the whole idea for their business from him and one eventually bought the business from his estate.

Don't remember seeing the Don Pablo but I'll look for it next trip to Costco.

I have two MP1's and an FET IIi. I am presently jonesing to sell the 1's and get two MPEQ's. I feel with that, my front end would be settled. I would rent or borrow for larger sessions. Funny, I LOVE the smell of coffee but after trying a million different blends and add ons, I still can't stand to drink it.

Ha, the Thread title is becoming the thread. Warren's beans smell great, but I don't currently have a grinder. I'm touting a Dominican coffee, Santo Domingo, that my wife and I discovered at the Hard Rock resort in Punta Cana, DR, where my band was booked for a Hard Rock properties convention a few years ago. The hotel food service was so-so, but the coffee was dynamite. Of course we inquired, and discovered Santa Domingo coffee, grown in the Dominican Republic. Returng home, we found a source for it. www.amigofoods.com/sadocaex8oz.htmlThe coffee is cheap, even with the shipping. The value is ordering many pounds, once you decide you like it. I usually order 8 pounds at at time, and it's good to the last pound. You get a full pound too, not 13 ounces. 4+ years, I'm not at all tired of it, and I'm bummed when I don't have it on the road.
