Has anyone tried or is anyone doing this? How would it be done? ..or does it not work because of latency issues? ..or is the quality just not there yet?

Since a lot of computers run peripherals like bluetooth as very low priority functions, you can expect a lot of latency, but also a lot of inconsistent latency. You'd need to design a specialized driver system around a bluetooth headphone setup with very low latency drivers for them to be useful for audio tracking I would think.

But if it could be done, I'll bet there are a lot of folks who would pay a premium for a dedicated hardware and/or software package that does the trick. There's nothing more annoying than a cable hanging from your head when you're tracking, ..reaching for a pick, turning a page, twiddling a knob, etc.

I would be ALL OVER this if there were a good option. Controlling my DAW from my iPad and wireless monitoring would be incredible.
I used to use my in-ears like this but it never sounded that fantastic. I've since sold them.

The newest Bluetooth standard still has very high latency, compared to daw latency. I would look at 2.4 ghz headphones if you want something acceptable and wireless. Anyway Bluetooth stinks as a full bandwidth protocol, goes great with mp3.
