Oh yea - pretty much the only soft synth I use. It sounds incredible. Careful of the CPU usage if you're on a laptop. All the Howard Scarr presets are phenomenal. These two patch libraries are excellent and totally worth the price, especially the "Analog" set: vintagesynthpads.com/ocart/Presets-for_Diva-Uhe

And here's a post from Hans Zimmer over on VI-Control:
He's talking about Zebra HZ, which Urs put together for him to use on the Batman films - it's U-he Zebra combined with Diva's analog filters. While having a vintage hardware synth would be great, the improvement over the sound you get from Diva would be negligible at best.

Does it actually work with PT10? It says "aax support for Pro Tools 10 11 and 12" yet PT 10 does not use AAX plugin architecture.
Someone have experience using this with PT10? I would be very interested in buying it if I get some positive feedback on that!

I don't have zebra, but for a recent 80's synth score project I pulled out the Prophet 5, Super Jupiter, PPG and Jupiter6 - HARDWARE......and all I can say is that it was jaw dropping - and all I could think of is why the heck had I left them in storage since I moved. The filters are just incomparable....BUT....the thing that made my eyes pop out was the envelope attack and release parameters. So crisp, so punchy, so aggressive compared to soft synths. And on that front - aside from the zebra - I have most of the best. Just my $.02. I'm not buying the soft synth hype anymore.....
PS - the actually work flow of knobs and sliders and faders was so joyful as well. Instant gratification.

Talking of workflow, i always smile when i take a look at the old JD-800. Man, i loved this machine for it's crazy possibilities. Harsh stuff often, digital filters, for sure, but still i love it. Sliders and knobs all over and you always know what you are doing....well, mostly. :-D For analogue, i still have a Control Synthesis bassline synth (which is a bit extraordinary, but i love it's filter and mine sounds alot better than others i heard...maybe a calibration thing...). And a drumstation that at least has analog filters and is bests of 808/909 world in a rack format for me. Well, and i have a Waldorf engine hardware synth inside a control keyboard. And, and...... Yeah, i love hardware synths. But i wouldn't buy overpriced analog synths on the used market, i lost the point in time where prices went silly even for vintage synths that nearly fall apart when you get them and work only on tuesdays.... Guess what, i use mostly softsynths nowadays. At least some of them sound absolutely fabulous. u-he stuff does for sure...he obviously knows alot about how to design synths with good sounding filters....

I will have to try the zebra after I get my new system configured.... Thanks for the tip. But the analogs are staying powered up. :-)

Agreed that hardware envelope control is king - I often send my Diva tracks through a hardware ADSR unit. For anyone wanting to try Zebra, I highly recommend Zebra HZ aka The Dark Zebra, which has Diva's analog modeled filters. It's the best of both worlds. But I mostly just use Diva and can't get enough.
Hey, if I had the cash to start a vintage synth collection, I'd totally do it. But damn if this forum doesn't have me spending my money on mics, pres, and converters instead ;-)
Been checking out U-he's latest synth Hive this week, great interface and extremely easy on the CPU. But Diva will always be my favorite I think.

I guess this is as good a place as any to post my Diva touchscreen interface - couldn't play a softsynth without it!

Not much coding required actually, mostly just midi mapping with Emulator Pro software and Ableton. That's just one of six screens that control everything from drums to synths to effects.

That's awesome! I hope to check it out sometime as well. But my comment was towards the Hans Zimmer "A Very Sad Story" quote. I just can't quite imagine that...... It kind of smacks of "Gee, I tried the Digi002 pre's and they sound as good as my 1073's, CAPI's and Telefunkens". Doesn't really ring true with my experience. But again, I haven't tried Zebra. Maybe I'll be selling my prophet 5? :-)

I would not sell my 1989 Strtocaster just because they can emulate that sound one day. There are more reasons to use hardware, something to touch on.... I like it myself just for space reasons I also use some software.... and to be true who said thats a sin to mix up hw and sw synths? Law of HW Moses?
