Here and there I still use Altiverb 6 if my HW units are blocked. Nearly everytime its the same story. Most IRs do sound lifeless and boring, but suddenly you pick one that not only fits the feel of the song, it also has space and dimension.
Why do some IRs sound flat and boring and others sound like a god send?

AV is true stereo and there is no modulation algo in AV 6..... so my guesswork is there must be a diffrence in the qualty of the IR???

I think I have found a rule of thump. IR of real spaces and analog gear, such as plates and springs, and chambers.... cut very nice in a dense mix. As soon I try to use IR of digital artificial reverb units they sound boring. Very intrsting was an IR of an BX 10 Spring reverb today.... it was one of the nicest verbs I heard in a long time.

Some ir's are true stereo and some not. Look at the symbol beside it Nope it does not matter if its true stereo or mono to stereo for example the spring reverb is mono to stereo and sounds outstanding on LV. My gueswork is you cant sample every digital HW reverb because some of them ad modulation to the tail. And that is what the IR does not get... maybe its only nice with verbs who do not modulate.
