Is it worth it upgrading from 64bit 6.5 to latest 8Pro? I use it mostly for mixing. Upgrade price is two hundred dollars, which I would rather spend elsewhere.

I don't know if it's totally necessary, but 8 is really cool. I haven't had any major issues with it. I can't really remember what was in 6.5, so I couldn't tell you what all is new.

I just had a problem within Cubase 6.5 with my Waves plugins greying out. So, I called Waves-I have the WUP- and they told me they couldn't support any Cubase 6.5 related problems. Said I needed to upgrade for them to help me. Through searching I found out the problem had to do with my graphics card. So, I was able to fix the problem, but it was a wake up call reminding me that upgrading software is built into the software industry's profit model. I hope they deliver with improvements that are worth the money.

Yes. Major changes since 7 and the VCA's in 8 are very nice to mix with.

I'm in the same boat -- still on 6, but I plan on upgrading as soon as I wrap up a couple a projects...
The upgrade price from 5 to 8 is $300, and beyond that, there's no discount. So probably a good time to go ahead and do it and save some money while there's still a significant discount.

Just using the VCA to lower the gain staging on a mix today. Really nice feature.

Well, I decided to upgrade. The software is downloading now. I hope the install goes without a hitch. Looking forward to getting this going.

I recently upgraded to 8.5...I'm really liking it so far...but I stuck with Cubase 4 and PT9 for years and years. I was maybe even a bit overdue.

Anyone know if it's possible to have a separate dongle with the Cubase 6.5 license on it, while having the new Cubase 8 license on a different dongle? I was thinking I could keep 6.5 on my older DAW machine for use with VIs while using 8 for all the other stuff.

I'm pretty sure all you need is another USB-eLicenser for the new license. I can't remember how feasible it is to transfer licenses from one dongle to another. I know it's pretty simple with the i-Lok but I don't think it's come up for the eLicenser in my world yet.

I think that the new Cubase 8 license holds the six point five as well and I'm not sure if they can be separated
