any suggestions for fastening this guy to the microphone body? it has those two little raised posts on the back of the badge. did these typically sit off the surface of the mic or did the mic body have two indented holes for the badges to sit in?

I installed 8 of these on my clones. I used a small t-square aligned to the top of the body tube and drew a pencil line down the tube. Measured the distance between the pins, cross marked them on the line, and punched the center of the cross. I found a drill bit the size of the studs and drilled 2 holes in the mic body. I then pre fitted the badge for fit and alignment. I then mixed and applied a dab of J.B. Weld to the back of the badge, placed and let it set.

cool. that sounds like a good plan. how hard is the brass to cut with a drill bit and how do you keep them steady so the bit doesn't slip and scratch the body? and what kind of drill bit did you use?

cool. that sounds like a good plan. how hard is the brass to cut with a drill bit and how do you keep them steady so the bit doesn't slip and scratch the body? and what kind of drill bit did you use? on JK's MKU47, i drilled a single hole in the middle of the badge position, used blue tape to outline the badge, and then used 100% silicone to stick the badge, then taped to hold position for drying. On the inside of the mic you have to flatten the silicone so it spreads out a bit as to not get in the way when you slip the body tube over the chassis, it kinda rubbed a little on John's mic, but no harm/foul. The silicone adheres very well, and is great against heat, and if you ever damage, or want to change the badge for any reason, it's totally reversible. as far as drilling, brass is super easy to drill, use a metal bit, get everything secure(mic, drill, hands all anchored)and go very slow speed to start a guide hole, don't use a snap punch or awl, it will dent the thin walled mic, and possibly wider than the badge and you may not be able to hide it. let us know how you do no matter the way you go 8)
