So far I've used it on a couple female vocals and a male vocal. It's really nice. Smooth, not hyped like any modern mics. To get it to sit in the modern ballpark, a little 4.8k and 12k and it's there. Looking fwd to trying it on acgtr, egtr, and a brass session I have coming up. Def a serious mic w/ a "sound". Noise floor is higher on these than say my u67 partly b/c it's a lower output. Hasn't been a problem.

The U67 was Neumann's answer to the Sony C37A when it started taking sales away from the U47. I have two but no power supplies. :-(

Bill Withers had one in his home studio that I rebuilt. It sounded like there was a thick sock over it.

The U67 was Neumann's answer to the Sony C37A when it started taking sales away from the U47. I have two but no power supplies. :-( Bob is correct! The C37A was Sony's mic to compete with the U47. As Bob mentioned, Neuamnn then put out the U67 as an answer. Notice how Neumann copied the angled/indented head grill of the C37A.

That grill smoothed out the response. The low cut was also a big deal. Recording for vinyl the two biggest problems were breath pops and sibilance. As much as people loved the sound of 47s, they were a huge problem unless a singer had learned how to avoid pops and esses using ribbon mikes. The C37 changed things a bunch.

It's nuts that a c37p just sold on ebay for over 2k. Nuts.

eBay prices on Sony Solidstate mics move up and down more than the shirt in Tonys GIF! Through in threads like this, and the confusion of C37a & P C38 and 48 !
