So while I am going on 45 minutes on hold waiting for Apogee support to pick up, I thought I'd reach out to some folks who I actually want to talk to. This also has the side benefit of keeping me from really losing my patience! I have been running Apogee AD/DA16-X with X-HD cards and an HD Native interface on PT9 for quite a while. I decided to do something dumb and dive into PT12 and everything has gone great so far but I can't get it to see my interfaces. I'm curious if anyone else has done something similar? I'm thinking I may need to update the firmware on the X-HD cards. The main units are both running the newest. Of course, it looks like the firmware updater is only for Mac and I'm on Windows. As far as I can tell, there's no way to actually see what version they are currently running without using the updater. At the very least, I'll update this thread with my findings in case anyone else has this problem in the future. Thanks! Brian

Finally got Apogee on the phone. They confirm that I probably need to update my X-HD firmware and that the update software is only available for Mac. Very convenient!

Dumb question but are you using HD12 or just Pro tools 12 software? Because Regular 12 will only work via Core Audio not HD, HD Native or HDX! I know there are dealers who say HD Native works with Regular software but THEY ARE WRONG!

Yeah, it's HD12. I'm just going to have to rip these things out and head over to a friend's place with a Mac and run the update. Hope that solves the problem!
More detail is that on the current firmware, the X-HD pretends to be an Avid 192 interface. Officially, Avid lists that as "untested" with HD12 but they don't explicitly say it's unsupported. Under the new firmware, it presents as an HD I/O which is definitely supported.

I hope it works Old blue face 192s have been working fine with 11, I ca see AVID locking them out with 12 out of spite!

At the very least, maybe it's just not very high on their priority list right now. I'm sure they've got bigger problems to sort out!

the X-HD pretends to be an Avid 192 interface That's how my Prism works too. Had to update a card in it, and now it pretends it's a new Avid interface. Works fine. Still have an old 192 left and of course a bit anxious how long I'll be able to keep it. Still on PT11 here.

Just to follow up, there is a happy ending! Upgraded the X-HD cards to v3.00 firmware and they show up perfectly in PT12. Interestingly, I had to delete and re-add all the output paths to make them available but everything seems cool now. Moral of the story is 192 folks probably don't want to go to 12 just right now.. if they ever did.
