Was looking at the LCT340...looks nice. I have not. But you got me curious so checked out the Lewitt site. Click on this page for acoustic guitar mic demos. The LCT340 sounds nice. But I much prefer their 940 on the Fet setting. Much more dough though.

I actually just pulled the trigger on a LCT540...turns out that when they announced the release of a couple of new models, a few of their dealers started clearing out older inventory for dealer cost...the LCT540/640 get excellent reviews (often compared to the U87 without the honk) and while some retailers are still asking the street price of $599, you can pick up the "open box" specials for half that price: www.ebay.com/itm/271810769601Just for the record, the company is a joint venture of 2 gentleman, a former product development manager for AKG in Vienna (rumor has it he left to build a better mousetrap/C414) and the son of the owner of a very reputable Chinese factory (Takstar) which actually make some very decent quality inexpensive mics...their LDC capsule quality is quite impressive...backplates are copied from Neumann K67...recordinghacks.com linked the 540 (cardioid only) and 640 (multi-pattern) to the Neumann TLM 107, due to similarities in utilizing electronic pattern, pad and low-cut switching and the use of high-quality surface mount components...I figure for $299 shipped, I could use a nice FET LDC... Shannon has some knowledge of this topic. Funny, because when I saw the Lewitt K67 capsule with green retainer rings and black screws, it reminded me of Sinsay's (purple) capsule handiwork... Attachments:

Thier Mics are very nice. I had a prototype they have me to mod the one with no or ZERO noise floor. As well as the 1" capsule stage mic. They were very well constructed Roman the owner is a really awesome dude yes they used to work at AkG. I used most of th lime of Mics and was very impressed with them. they have a tube / fet. Saturation by your on choosing that was impressive to say the least. I think that ( know ) they will be hitting the U.S. market quickly and with big presence I belive they will be a big player to come. They have technology that I seen for the very first time and think they are pretty solid. Yes the green rings with the black screws ook bad ass

I thought they were a fairly good sounding stock mic. Once Shannon put a capsule of his making in it, it was a contender.

...I sold my LCT540 after acquiring my 3U Audio Warbler I, which sounded more 3D and present...the Lewitt was all SMC construction and transformerless, while the Warbler was all hand-soldered WIMAs, Dale, and Fairchild components with a nice 9.5:1 tranny...3U is about to release a multi-pattern version too...and the 3U was half the price of the Lewitt...

Well, as a designer who works mostly in SMD, I'm not really moved by such things. I just came across a good deal on a 540 and could use a workhorse mic like this.

I have 2 LCT240's and 1 LCT540 that I love. both are very usable. I used the 240's right alongside a pair of 414's for a live choral concert and they held up well. I wasn't critically listening but the show didn't suffer. In the studio I've used them on guitar amps and even occasionally bgv's. solid contender.
