I think this is a good thing. It is interesting that an internet business has the clout to impose loudness standards, but the industry itself won't. For example, I'd like to see loudness standards for CD's. It would make life easier for engineers imo if there were licensed CD replication standards that had to adhere to loudness standards. Once that happened, the clamoring from bands for louder music would stop, as both of the major primary deliverers of music -Wav and MP3- would have a standard.
I found this "Perception" plugin interesting.
