its a awesome compressor John, GREAT on vocals. Its transparent and you can hit it hard with no artifacts.

I would track with the Trakker and mix with the STA Level.

I think it's a better sounding Distressor... meaning it's versatile but with a better overall sound.

I didn't get it because I'm not sure it has transformer mojo and i can stack 3 comps in plugs and get lots of compression with no artifacts

Anything CraneSong is pretty sweet in my book. I love my Avocet, have used the STC-8 a bunch and love it, Trakker pretty cool. Maybe not my first choice, but very nice.
