is it also true that Colin(AML) worked for Neve for years? Yes I did. Jeff Steiger has pretty much covered the whole "24v" thing..... correctly Colin www.audiomaintenance.com

Hey audiomaintenance! Great to have you here! Interesting, I am not sure if I knew that you worked for Neve. Was that back in the golden age?

I'd actually like to have one of both Pfff...I'd rather have a pair of either than one of both.

Yes, the 1073jr's are $899. The RTZ's are $895.
Now, a more apples to apples comparison would be the AML 1073 vs. the Heritage 1073-500. That's $1200 vs. $2200

Nice idea, John! Lets put a test together! I know Bart Bush has an EZ 1073. Who has the Heritage Sr in Nashville?

I sure want to see a more extensive video of the AML 54F50. There is only 1 video on youtube and it has so much verb it is hard to tell what it sounds like. It isn't an AML made video I don't believe.

Wait - you talking about the heritage 1073 500's or the retro double wides? Well, I've owned both. Didn't particularly care for the double wides.

The Retro Doublewide's are really cool. They weren't made to replace the STA, but rather have a different voice with an opto feel. I think most everyone who has tried them expected them to sound like a 6386 Varimu based tube comp. That isn't gonna happen without high voltage. They do their own thing that is quite different. I dig them on various sources, but my favorite uses are female vocals and upright bass. Both sound great through them as it doesn't make them wooly sounding. It keeps the mids intact. I think many people are over using the Doublesides compression stage and not liking when it hits the stressed stage. They are made to be gentle and invisible -2 to -4 compression. That is the sound! Most of the vids I have watched show the needle slamming -10 or better and that is not its sweet zone. Does anyone in Nashville have an AML 54F50? I would love to hear one in person.
