Don't know why I hadn't tried this before, but tried the Blue Cat VST bridge thingy last night and was pretty much running everything I was missing. I've done my last two mixes in Cubase and just felt a little like I didn't have a reference for what things were sounding like...It could TOTALLY be psychosomatic though. I mean, I'm not losing sleep over all of this - just sparking a little conversation. Maybe I should stick to my guns just for the principle though.

the blue cat skins work great,
but that doesn't help you out with the subscription price or did you mean just stay with your current pro tools versions and not subscribe ?

How often did we pay for upgrades before...say, between 8, 9, 10, 11? Every 1 and a half, 2 years? I gladly paid for the $200 upgrade then...I guess this would just be another $100 a year than before...but I'm starting to rationalize.

I couldn’t get my head around cubase, as much as I wanted to. I do think its the best DAW you can buy. It just never felt right. I have also tryed Reaper, Studio one, Harrison mix bus, Trackton, and finally LogicX. LogicX is the one for me It just feels right. trouble is I don't think you can demo it. Keep looking avid don't deserve to keep their customers.

For now sticking with PT (older version). Too much TIME, money, plug-ins, etc invested! When, & if I upgrade, I'll decide with going (continuing) PT or changing to Logic.

Right now, I'm using all three. Logic for a mellotron...Cubase to track...PT's 11 to track...PT's 10 to mix...Cubase to mix...sigh. I might be guilty of giving in to Avid's extortion just so I don't have to pay $900 in a couple of years.

RADAR to track (easy as pie, solid, converts = wonderful), PT through RADAR to mix. The new RADAR Studio boots both modes in one box, Harrison Mix Bus is also installed on there too.

metaplugin works great too. it also has a crossover and m/s tool. you can turn any plugin into m/s. you can route the mid to one eq, and the side to another. or the top to one and the bottom to another. or even one to a comp and the other an eq. super, super, cool...
it does get tiresome though in your normal everyday workflow having to open one plugin just to access another.
