I've had my eyes on this for months over at Mac Rumors. It'll most likely be my next laptop

This is the Macbook, not the Macbook Pro...which is why I think they've withheld a few features...but USB3 instead of Tbolt?

Looks to me like it's replacing the Macbook Air, but I'm just guessing....

USB3 provides power as well as connectivity at Tbolt speeds. And is backward compatible with older usb devices. I think TBolt is a lost cause at this point - it just didn't get the adoption it needed, both in peripherals and PC motherboards / Windows support.

This is what makes peripheral manufactures shake their heads at Apple ! Can you just Adopt a Standard and stick with it?

firewire was better than usb1 look who won. Tbolt is having it last rights. Macair is way better spec'd than the new macbook which is really just an oversized phone

The most recent MacPro really wasn't for us either, although most Apple criticism here has been on the critics' reliance on PCIe cards for UAD compatibility, and general flexibility that was traditionally PC construction. What's anybody else using card cages for besides UAD?

The problem I have with this product is it's not for anyone. 1 usbc port means you cannot just plugin to any of your usb gear. If you just want to surf the net watch movies surly a tablet is better. Its like having a laptop without any benefits doesent even have a touch screen. Will be interesting to see the sale's figures I am tipping epic failure the watch to which will not look good for apple post Jobs.

Actually I understand USB 3.1 can be just as fast as thunderbolt 2!
This has been in the pipeline for years and I suspect most TB interfaces are actually USB3 under the hood because TB-specific chips would make no financial sense at all to manufacture.
