I'm into good music. Pop changes. I can't say I'm into it or not into it. Beyonce is good, Lady Gaga is terrible, Rhianna is pretty bland, Taylor Swift's track with Ed Sheeran is a decent production.
I can't watch that video because youtube is a racist. No for Ireland!

I just saw him a couple weeks ago. In fact, I write reviews for a local radio station and covered this show. The review is here: www.alice102.com/pages/16427775.php. He is one talented SOB. I don't generally like pop, but it would be foolish to deny that Bruno Mars is talented.

When I listen to something other than sports-talk, yes...The production in "Blurred Lines" is fantastic. Katy Perry, Pink, etc. It's ashamed some of Serban Ghenea's mixes are crushed as much as they are - not sure that's him, though. The new Miley Cyrus - while incredibly annoying and a little bright - is the best of what's happening right now.
I've really been listening to a lot of Jazz lately, too. Man - it doesn't get much better than "Kind Of Blue" from 60 years ago. They got it right the first time.

When I listen to something other than sports-talk, yes... Same here. When the sports talk goes to commercial or I'm with my wife, I turn on the pop. I played drums in a modern pop band for the past 6 years maybe and I've come full circle on the stuff. When I first started playing it, I wasn't into it and though it was all crap. Now I really appreciate all the production and songwriting. A lot of this stuff is really well done.

I was listening to some Sting from the 90's the other day..."Nothing Like The Sun" - just incredible musicianship and recording.

Anyone listen to the new Kanye album? Haven't yet, going to give it a listen now. Any good? I like it. I mean the aggression of some of those beats - it's almost industrial. If you're a NIN or Flaming Lips fan I'd expect you to appreciate the references. It's funny - even though it's a rap record and the vocals are super loud you're really listening to the "beat" alot.

This Bruno Mars chap is killing it. Love the bass tone. That totally sounds like a Michael Jackson song . His voice doesn't sound like Michael , but if you had Michael sing it , it would be his song .

The atmosphere and mood is tangible on that. scary performances and recording. I love pop!LOL From the Beatles to Boston to Chic to Green Day to Mutt Lange productions, Max Martin whatever!! All the different styles and textures are remarkable. Too bad about the loudness wars.

Check out Gergory Porter too...been enjoying that one... Gregory is great! I mixed an upcoming album with swedish sax player Magnus Lindgren (superbly recorded by Paul Antonelli at the Clubhouse/Rhinebeck NY). Gregory guests on a few tracks. Never heard before. Blown away. What a voice! Album soon to be released, preview on YouTube:

This is more of the pop type stuff I was talking about.
The female vocals smoke. Lively piano. Nice beat.

This is more of the pop type stuff I was talking about. The female vocals smoke. Lively piano. Nice beat. I can get into a lot of Pop but this isn't my flavour. To me this sounds like an 80's Mariah Carey impersonation. The piano sounds like a cheap patch to me too. I get that that's part of the sounds they are going for. It's just not the sound from the 80's that I'm nostalgic for. I actually really dug the 80's nostalgic production flavours that were smattered throughout that She Wolf song Shakira did not so long ago. It wasn't a full on 80's parody/copy thing like this one. It had it's own vibe but you still defenitely got that 80's throwback feeling in there. I thought it was clever and smart the way that was done (not that I'm a big Shakira fan or anything). I just dig the early 80s pop flavour in the production. I would have liked it less if she were doing an impersonation of a pop singer from the early 80's also though. I guess I like that it had throwback references but she still performed in her own style. I'm super lovin Azealia Banks these days I guess she's as much or more Rap than pop but it's pretty pop to me, in the best way though. I like that she sounds original. Not too many sound like her. I Especially love this track:
