to those eho like to complain about ua's retail price, its new 60% off sale to octo and quad owners demonstrates that ua does offer huge savings but you need to have ponied up snd have a little extra skin in the game
if i buy 3 more plugs my total savings are more than the retail price of my octo card not gloating just sayin i like the way ua plays this game !!

I think it is satellite and uad-2 pci-e cards, plus 14 day demo reset While, I understand the concern about the cost of the tbolt card but in a way UA saves you so much money with these deals that you are able to purchase the tbolt card with 100% found money. Who thinks Console 2 drops tomorrow ?

Um...they aren't "saving" us money...it isn't a physical product they're selling. They could offer the original FW adopters a $400 coupon towards plugs and that would be satisfactory to me...even though they really lose nothing in the deal.

? if I pay $133 vs over $300 usd ,how have I not saved money ? I understand that UA has no additional sunk costs once it releases a plug ( other than normal overhead) but $200 in my pocket is found money. I won't pay $299 usd for the vari mu but i will think about $133 I am all for a deal for the tbolt card, as you know and wrote ua about that, no response of course but let talk about important stuff, I sure hope you get your Mike soon !!!!!

The notion that buying UA plugs is an inevitability, and that a UA "sale" means money in the bank, is a little off. Especially considering their value on the secondhand market...which is $0. It's a great sale, but still drains the bank account of dollars that I'll never see again.

I like John's idea, and wish I'd thought of it myself. If UAD won't offer early adopters an at cost Thunderbolt card, at least give it away with a $399 special sale for early adopters only. It's a win-win for UAD no matter how they do the accounting, because plugins, after a certain amount of time are a complete cash cow, so I think they should just give their fan base a break, no?
I'd get the Ocean Way and the 1073, and be a happy camper. then I could look at a satellite later on down the road.

UA sent out emails to people with apollo quads and quad and octo cards. It is the same deal as when you register: 2/299, 3/399 6 for etc.
If you are the legitimate owner, contact CS today as the email haven't gone out uniformly and its a little unclear. They did some big computer /serverwork a while back maybe their system is screwy ?

I have a quad card but I have to admit I am not very tempted by these sales. The fact that the resale is zero makes it hard to keep dumping money into their system. I only buy when things are 99 or below otherwise that money is going towards real hardware.

i find myself Convenience is still the winner on my end, though. For the smaller stuff, I find myself reaching for the 1176's a ton in mixes instead of re-recording it into the project through the hardware. I mean, I'll go hardware for Bass or Snare and obviously, vocals...but it would slow things dow considerably If I went all HW.

C2 is to released this week or next, i think that is what the sale is about.
I'm with you John on the convenience factor good mikes, pres, converters. check your good and then pass your mix through your burl: sounds pretty good
I was trying to use my OB comp yesterday just in line and I had some kind of loop so just passed and used my plugs .

I liked the Manley Vari Mu...really nice...I've somehow gotten through life without ever using the hardware...but this thing was really nice on the 2 bus.

I got the email. I've got most of what I want from UAD, but I could be tempted. Anybody use the AMS reverb? I'll probably buy a T-bolt satellite in the next day or two, so I have a powerful transportable rig with the Apollo Twin and I can leave my quad PCIe card at home. The Twin is great, but two sharc's don't cut it. Will UAD ever jump the sharc? [Sorry about that.. ] Is there no resale value in software plugins? Or just UAD? I figure I'll keep every software thing I've bought forever, even if it doesn't work anymore. I still have my native BombFactory 1176/LA2A licenses on my iLok, though the software only works on MacOS 9 computers that are 14 years old. I wish Studio Vision still worked.

its actually not true that there is no resale the problem is you have to sell all or none of your plugs and just the hardware or card.
People typically get about 50 cents on the dollar( retail).

[edging off topic] Except for unobtainium vintage stuff, that's not too bad. I've never tried to sell any Waves licenses or Slate stuff, etc. The resale market for physical music is pretty grim too. If my recordings are resold, neither SONY nor me makes a dime. But why should we? Makes me feel sorry for the Great Masters who painted all those hugely valued paintings.

I think the only thing I don't have that is for sale is the Neve. I have all of the other good stuff to get, so this sale ain't lucrative. However, when they drop all of those guitar pedals, my tone might change (ba dump ching). we'll see.

slate stuff also sells for about 50 cents on the dollar but you also have to pay a 25 ilok transfer fee
personally getting half your money back and perhaps more if you bought the plug on sale doesn't sound so bad.
people are selling their apollos, to get the new one with the tbolt card and $1,000 in plugs or coupon. so these things may have more value than we realize.

do it Jk,
a guy on ua forum was net out of pocket under $400 had new apollo quad with warrenty, new tbolt card and almost a grand in new plugs so he was at least a grand ahead plus has tbolt card so will be rockin C2 as soon as it drops !
cat 5 encouraged me the same a year ago with octo card deal and selling my ( his old quad) satalite. I was net out of pocket under $300 after selling the quad had 8 more sharc chips ( plus 200% dsp) and got a coupon for $1,046 usd
i get the ua plugs retail are high argument, but UA also floats these crazy ass deals if one is just a little creative: think like a shark, always move forward !!
