Is this the Dave Cobb production? Yes it is. Vance Powell tracked and mixed. Crazy good.

Awesome!!! I could really enjoy country strongly moving to this. Yeah ward Chris wrote this tune here right after his father died a couple years ago. His dad was a great man and a pillar in our community back home. I can hear a soul crying out in this song. Music like this is to me like the marrow of our craft. Without it, we are merely empty, lifeless racks of bones. The human race as a whole is hopelessly stupid. Take for example nuclear weapons. A guy builds a bomb and says hey, I've built a bomb that can kill 10 million people in a split second. Then another smart guy stands up and says, hey, that's a great idea, now we just need to build enough of them so that we can get everyone on the planet in a split second. The music industry is like that analogy. By keeping music with soul off the airways and mainstream, we kill our own souls. Gatekeepers are too stupid to realize that this thing of ours is far bigger than money. And so it goes.

Al Anderson has been saying for years that there's no better vocalist than Chris Stapleton. I guess it begs the questions, will the corporate Nashville pop bigwigs know how to market genuine talent?

Lifeless soulless pablum for the masses is the song-du-jour for radio.

No! They won't be has real talent, they don't understand talent anymore, now it's about creating a brand !

On the subject, this is a great behind the scenes vid. Vance is in it and Cobb is playing guitar at RCA A.

Maybe you could get into RCA A for a few hours during your visit wiz? Just contact Sorrel Brigman for a booking. You can find her in my friends list on FB.

Reminds me of Travis Tritt, John, before he got packaged up and then dropped out. Stapleton is a seriously great writer, on top of everything else.

Chris has always sounded to me like a perfected version of Travis Tritt, smoother. Coincidentally, the first thing I ever heard him sing years ago was Here's A Quarter. He did it better than Tritt even back then IMO.

Actually, sounds a lot like Anthony Smith...but it's so nice to hear something that doesn't sound like the radio
