Also, I am not sure I am going to bring an Acoustic with me... I don't want my good ones to get lost or smashed..and no point bringing a crap one. You're not alone! A friend told me Hendricks recorded with his favorite Les Paul but only toured with Strats which he considered disposable.

I-SNIP Wiz Do you have a Taylor (or another acoustic with a removeable neck)? If so, unbolt the neck. Pack the body full of clothes and give it a slight wrap of bubble wrap and then wrap more clothes around it pack it in your suitcase. Do the same with the neck. I usually do this and have never ever ONCE had a problem.

I have a Martin D28 and a Maton Messiah (which is what I would bring... but its too great, and means to much to me.. its my main solo working guitar) I also have a Taylor Mahogany Mini, and a Yamaha Acoustic. My main thought was, recording.. in which case i could probably use a studio guitar, if they have something nice laying around.. and going to the songwriter nights.. which means (i assume i need something with a pickup). cheers Wiz

Not every studio has 59 great guitars lying around, like mine (and probably yours and most here)!

I wouldn't take you up on it... it would FREAK ME OUT!!! 8) so you can put a guitar in the overhead in the USA .. Qantas stopped that here apparently....I gotta look into it more.. but .. you know.. its gonna be a huge pain in the ass.. I even thought of buying one, in Nashville... then leaving with one of you guys to sell... CHeers Wiz

What will Wiz do? Will he break with convention and rent? Will he just break down and buy a new Taylor 614 and bring it back to Kangaroo-land? Will he bring his travel guitar and lis to himself about the sound?

Will GC even be in business by the time he gets here? My understanding is that lots of small shops sell their lemons to GC so it's not exactly a great place to find a decent axe.
Nashville has something like 40,000 professional musicians and songwriters so there are some great used guitars to be found here.

Sell one of my guitars (not something I love , obviously) here over the next few months... and maybe buy one in Nashville, and then ship it back before I go.. interesting.... cheers Wiz

Here's a nice program I found on Nashville. Wiz, you might get some interesting info for your trip.
Not being a big fan of the genre, I still found this video fascinating and highly informative and entertaining. Maybe those of you guys who don't know it will enjoy it.
Have fun

Loved that Mando Mike video . . . but would someone please give that mandolin a good set-up? It needs some proper TLC.

He plays outside on the street in all seasons and that mando catches hell. He does have it set up from time to time. Maybe a setup guy can reach a hand out as I did. Little things go a long ways. He has sold quite a few of those EP's and I am happy that we could help him a little bit. I like to help those that need it and are willing to get off of their butt and help themselves.

That vid isn't a very good sonic representation of that mando either. It actually sounds and records pretty good.
