Not sure if this this the right section for this but here it goes...
I present the Icarus Audio IA-Pre-1 preamp.
The IA-Pre-1 is a vintage style preamp based of of the classic AM-10 opamp circuit. This preamp uses all through-hole components and there are no ICs in the audio path.
We use custom designed transformers made specifcally for us in the U.S.A. The IA-Pre-1 was designed to have characteristics of both of the classics preamp styles. It has both the midrange bite of a Neve styled preamp when pushed and the transient response of an Api styled preamp. This pre can be described as balanced yet aggressive, with enough flexibility to be perfect for any studio.
Because the IA-Pre-1 has both input gain and output attenuation, the IA-Pre-1 can be driven hard with plenty of color or can be ran transparent by backing off the gain and running with no attenuation.
Xlr inputs are on both the front and rear of the unit so that a microphone can be plugged in easily whether it is racked or used as a tabletop pre. The DI input does not have a switch, instead it is activated using relays. When a 1/4” TS jack is inserted, the signal goes through the input transformer and through the rest of the circuit for extra transformer color. When removed, a second relayed sets the circuit back to stock.
On the front panel you can see the Sheen and Character switches. The Sheen is a 24K boost and the Character switch is a 150/600 Ohm switch for the input transformer. The +/-24V internal power supply with external transformer allows more headroom than most equipment with lower noise. The HPF is internally switchable between 80hz and 30 hz
Specs:
Gain: 3dB – 62dB
Dimensions:8 1/2" x 10" x 1 3/4"
+48v phantom power
20db pad
24k sheen switch
1.3 Meg DI impedance Fully Balanced XLR and TRS I/O
Front panel selectable insert loop
Custom input transformer with custom oversized output transformer
+/-24V internal power supply
