C'mon, Sony, really? I would have expected such crappy marketing from shady audiophile snake-oil shops...

C'mon, Sony, really? I would have expected such crappy marketing from shady audiophile snake-oil shops... Japanese companies seem to do this sort of thing a lot in their marketing. I have no idea, but I wonder if there is something lost in translation between Japanese and English. So, "premium" card (fast transfer speed) aimed at the audio market becomes "premium sound", and likewise for storage targeted at the video market: the card would be labeled "premium video".

I think this is right. The card is probably faster than a standard card, which is good for audio work, but not fast enough for video. That's my understanding anyway.

I can hear the argument: "our memory stores bits with greater accuracy than the competition, and everyone knows that bit noise can be a source of audio distortion".
