Ok The day before I told my Dr to admit me I was at GC and was going to offer the " pro audio dude" $500 for a used Harrison /GR EQ because I was feeling some what nestalgic for my old rats nest called a Raven. The single dude didn't know how to multitask, and after referring 3 other pissed off waiting customers to places that could help and 45 min said to hell with this.
So hear are some of my choices as of now.
Used first gen. SONY C38 after Old Neumann, AKG and Gefell Sony is probably my favorite mic manufacturer, on of my 5 C535s ( have done a lot of acustic stuff ) was the favorite SDC in the unubtainium catagory in Mike Jasper's tape Op piece, my C48 is my go to FET LDC. So a 38 would be cool.
CAPI HEIDER My pres consists of 8 Dan Alexander / Neve , 5 CAPI VP26 plus the 24 in my Panasonic / Ramsa WZAD96m's. I keep listening to Rumor's love that sound, my fear knowing me 1 means 8 or more.
Used Daking Pre/EQ Yeah the A -Range was Geoffs Starting point, but that's it the things got its own tone and Even next to SMART's Trident it stood out all on its own and I like ! again big fear one =8!
Warm WA76 I bought one, it is 99.5% of what my MC76s were, but I can and will end up with at least 4 of these for what my Purples netted me !
Used Eventide H3000 Man I miss this thing, I grew up with that vocal sound.
So other than maybe a pair of Jeff's new Comps or finishing my Drip STA ( really want something plug and play). What else is they to do in the hospital besides shop?

The Sony microphone. They have something to them that no other mic does. It's very Neumanny but still has something 'else' going on!

Eric baby… The Sony mic, as it a pretty good bet it's value will rise in the next few years. Plus it's a great option to have in your locker~!
As we say in the old neighborhood "It's a beautiful thing"

As we say in the old neighborhood "It's a beautiful thing" Paul I'm leaning more that way, but here's the funny thing, now remember I have been tracking Sony Mic prices ( not the C800 ) for years. When I bought my C48 3 years ago c38s/ 37 FETs were fetching $1000-1400 more than c48s s750-800 . I paid $550 for my c48 and couldn't be happier! Now it's reversed. ! Somebody in Japan found a bunch of c38s ! Eventide is sooooooo tempting but, a part of me has my fingers crossed that this "Every one of our algorithms will be on the H9"

So After 2 flakey C38 sellers, I decided to put it all into my 2 DIY M49s. I ordered 2 BV11a's from Max and a PSU case from Danderloo, plus a Mouser order.

Insurance??? Pfffft! We all know insurance is only good for catastrophies - which actually....now that I think of it....you may be good for at this point, so maybe they WILL cover it. LOL It's worth a shot, right? A demo Silver Bullet eh??? Well, there are only two in existence right now. Sam Pura has the latest greatest and is mixing some huge record with it, and I have to send the one I have here back for the upgrades, so that I can check those out so that we can go into production.... So the question is....are you selfish enough that you want to hold up the entire world's supply of silver bullets so that you can demo it?? LOL Don't answer that!!!! Soon we hope to have a supply that can make the rounds. Until then you've got to keep smiling and feel better - knowing that somewhere there's a silver bullet in your future!!! It's my wellness prescription for everyone! Feel better and enjoy the M49's. My favorite mic.

Maybe step back from the smart phone and wait until all the medical issues are sorted out and paid for? They have a way of expanding without notice.

Maybe step back from the smart phone and wait until all the medical issues are sorted out and paid for? They have a way of expanding without notice. Jim While your concern is noble, and at first I thought of ignoring your post. I have decided to address it. First off had you read the thread concerning my recent hospitalization and the links I provided . It would become pretty obvious that long term my health issues are a never ending saga. As for the financial asprect rest assured that it is covered, between my wife's excellent employer provided health plan, and since I am using said employer as my health care provider even better polices concerning treatment of employees and family as well as my Medicare coverage, I will not be out of pocket for this stay or any other. Because we have always put a high value on excellent insurance coverage even when we were young and stupid of What is at this well over $4,000,000 in hospital bills I have only at best had to pay $1000 out of pocket. As far as "stepping away from the smart phone" Well the Pancreatits attacks are a result of stress and after spending a total of over 2years cumulative as an inpatient , it is ironic that I find being in a hospital or even simply being ill to be quite stress full and probably the time my PTSD is at its worse. However, spending time discussing what was my life's work is a therapeutic escape and reminds me that I am more than just a 97 percent severe burn victium. In the Past My former DRs Nurses PT, OT, and psychological therapists have all remarked that I am at my best when delving into the world of entertainment technology, sharing my knowledge and that the time spent building using and dreaming about gear has contributed to the fact that I am far beyond where any of them had hoped or dreamed of me being! So while I respect your opinion I am proud to say that even as I am finding it hard to sleep I will not be stepping back from the smart phone, in fact I would tell anybody who is disabled, feeling discomfort or stressed to use technology to share their experience and knowledge . It is true you either use it or lose it , and I have already lost enough physically . Now lets put down our soapboxes and return to gear. Respectfully Eric Nelson
