Years I tell you!!.. Years I've been looking for the right setup.!
Reason I originally went Mac / Pro tools (Native) was due to all the best audio interfaces at the time being for Mac (I had a ULN8 at one point), after years of working with Pro Tools both native and we had a HDX system at some point. I listened to all the tracks I'd done in Samplitude and they were dreamy even on a quite low end Saffire Pro 24, the in-built plugs are damn amazing.. It took me years to find a replacement for Ecox and I finally found UAD's Cooper Timecube which was my next "go to" for vox.
I never had latency issues, neither did I want for any more Samp is the best. UAD Apollo seems like a good interface (get it Monday) and will allow me to use Samp again YAY!, but some of the biggest changes are drums etc. I also used to have a Roland TD12 brain module for triggering the studio's Tama and it sounded awesome, ever since I did my own stuff I never played drums just tried to program them and whilst technically proficient HELL I've never heard programmed drums that sound right.. Got a 2-Box to replace that bad boy!.
Got another Kemper, tried everything from Axe FX to Palmer PDI-03 with an Engl Savage 60 Amp.. I love the 5150 and VH4, I'll just profile my VH4 when I get it. I've searched years for the right Mic for my voice, I feel the Mojave FET is the perfect choice.. Plenty of fidelity without any harsh overtones and finally had a slurry of monitors Focal / Event Opal / Sonodyne SM???!? Sure I got rid of the Opals because they're too big for their boots in my home but I'm mighty impressed with the Equators, they are the real deal.
Got myself a nice fixed bridge 8 string Agile, it needs a good setup but it's nice n' smexy.!
So I'm set and finally feel like I've done it right for once, instead of trying every GS fad underneath the sun to try and save a couple of bucks. Or trying the latest GS gearpiece of the moment that usually didn't add anything..
Maybe now, I can just make good music I'm happy with? I know this is just an excitable post about "new stuff", but I started this journey nearly 15 years ago now as a musician and I got so wrapped up in gear and audio. I made it a career instead of doing what I cared about, which is music!.. Even if I never earn a dime from it, I'd just like to release something I'm happy with for once.
Here's looking forward to an exciting new venture.
AWESOME!.
