I took a tour back in the late 1970's. I remember a big, fat Mexican guy was doing the Strat "offset contoured body" thing on the back of the bodies with a huge rounded belt sander.
He would stick the strat body under his gut and lean in, press real hard with his full body weight as the wood was ground away. I switched to Telecasters after that experience.
Most of my Telecasters are from Asia or Mexico. The quality is the same. I decided I wanted my Telecasters made by Mexicans in Ensenada, BC instead of made by Mexicans in Corona, CA.
