Do you mean a M49? If so there are really 2 choices the Thirsch Blue line or a real Neumann k47, I prefer the M7 and the Thirsch is as close as you can get these days!

And yes, the ".1" versions from Thiersch are those with threaded holes for mounting in all kind of mics without the special M7 holder. Otherwise identical.

Does the kit come with an M7 mount? The M7 capsule usually does not have any kind of threaded holes (as you already noticed) so it will not fit any mounts for any other capsules besides an M7 or M9 mount. Unless your kit comes with an M7 specific holder you'll need the STS7 holder from Thiersch as well. OR You can simply get the one with the holes and mount it to a standard holder. As for other capsules, the M7 was the original capsules used in the M49, then the K49 (which some say is identical to the K47). So you could use either style as you see fit, but personally I really like the Thiersch blueline M7 that I have in my U47 clone.

smallbutfine, thanks for editing the title. apparently thread topic creation isn't idiot proof on here.
svart, thanks for the advice, this clears it up nicely. there's a 6 week backorder time but i'm sure it will be worth the wait!
