Version with EQ in https%3A//soundcloud.com/user550433336/tequila-delta-sumVersion with EQ switched out https%3A//soundcloud.com/user550433336/no-eq-tequila-delta-sumTony Camp has been feverishly working on something for me. I am now the SUPER PROUD owner of a highly modified Soundcraft Deta. I have been after one of these for years.. rare as rocking horse poo here in Oz... Its 8 channels into a monitor section and is cute as a button. Its been a huge amount of work by Tony, and it ended up costing me a fortune because our dollar dipped and the shipping alone was 600 bucks.. but its worth every cent. I can't thank tonycamphd enough for the care , sensitivity and passion he attacked this with. Even the power supply is hugely redone and over spec'd It sounds really really really REALLY good. I am going to use it for summing, and for 8 channels of EQ. I didn't expect it to sound as great as it does... and that is making me reconsider adding even more channels and changing out audio interfaces. The track above was recorded with Vocal U87 1073 DMP STA level Taylor Mini Mahogany KM84 VP28 Resonator MD421 VP28 Shaker KM84 1073DMP Tracked into a RME UCX at 48Kz Then I mixed it by coming out of 4 channels of my Behringer ADA8000 into the Soundcraft Delta then out of its monitor section back into 2 channels of the ADA8000 (yes, behringer ADA8000 unmodded, its what I have laying about atm, and is allowing me to easily test summing etc... ) The AUX 1 of the Delta is sent back into a channel of the ADA8000 and feeds Valhalla Vintage Verb in Logic So I record the two track output of the Delta and the Reverb Send. So I end up with two tracks in logic which is then bounced down. i can't think of a better way to do the EFX atm. I probably overdid the EQ a touch. One of the most amazing things for me.. when I pan the acoustic guitar from left to right, when it reaches the centre it doesn't cloud the vocal.. like it does if I do it ITB. Which has always pestered me... I don't want to open Pandora's box about summing OTB etc.. but suffice to say.. I have had great joy over the last couple of days playing with the new toy. It sounds incredible. cheers Wiz

Sounds excellent. I actually like the non eq version better. Which means you tracked it really well.

Nice wiz! Congrats. Have you run any old mixes through it just to compare before and after? Looks like a lot of fun... in the process of doing (or trying to now) I tracked my last album at 96KHz though... and I am having to SRC down to 48Khz to use the ADA8000 (i know its supposed to do SMUX, non documented feature.. but mine shits itself at 96) Its fun... 8) cheers Wiz

Sounds great wiz!! I'm thrilled to death that Wiz is digging his new toy! He's about as cool a cat as there is!(even though i'm pissed at him for stealing my voice when he was born! 8) I do need to make 2 things clear straight away though. 1. As far as Wiz's rig, yes i worked hard on it, i modded/welded a little chassis together for him and painted it, I also went through a cps 450 psu and upgraded the heck out of it with top notch electronics. The channel strips and master section were modded by none other than Jim Williams, i paid Jim to do that and some of the channel strips that went to wiz, and the other channel strips wiz received were purchased by me ("already" modded by JW) from another guy in my area who hired Jim to do them, i did replace a couple things to bring them up to snuff. But make no mistake JIM WILLIAMS is the man who came up with these incredibly great mods, which turn a decent sounding rig into a total MONSTER! Jim deserves any and all the credit for that, as well as your business if you want this done. I sold this to wiz because i PAID for it myself, I respect Jims great talent and will continue to have him do work for me, as every piece he's done for me sounds massively improved! I'm a huge advocate of his work(which is way over my head), I wouldn't want him thinking i'm taking work from him(which is laughable because i'm not even on the same planet as his ability). I simply bought a new(to me) Soundcraft Delta 8- 48 channel console, this is the SINGULAR reason why i sold this Delta 200 board to wiz. Truth is, if i didn't find the Delta 8, wiz would still be searching lol. Bottom line is I'm glad we are both happy, and i will be dropping off some of my Delta 8 channels to Jim Williams next week. I hope that means everyone is happy 8)
2nd thing is, JK, i'm working on your MKU47, sorry it's taking me so long, i'll speed up the program here.. promise 8)

But I prefer the non eq version as well. yes, me too, wiz did say he over did it a bit, the eq's in this thing are seriously nice imo, easy, musical, very smooth, natural and sweet, not abrupt or nasaly like a lot of console eq's. The most dramatic thing about the console imo is it's almost non existent noise floor and the width and separation between R/L channels, the crosstalk spec is over 90db @ 10k!(that is nerd speak for unbelievably good 8)

Kudos to everyone involved. This is an excellent example of how cool this forum is: people helping others doing what they love, bound by a common focus on decency and respect.
