I've upgraded to the newest version of Logic (10.1), upgraded to Yosemite from Mountain Lion and upgraded my drivers for my RME Fireface UC.
I'm getting my ass kicked right now.......
I'm new to Logic and just recently switched over from PT. I can deal with the software learning curve but I'm having issues with program stability right now. Audio crackling and distorting, audio not playing or distorting like crazy when I use hardware i/o via the i/o plug. Many restarts, closing sessions and reopening in order to get certain tracks to play, etc.
I find it hard to believe that this combo is unstable - Logic X running on Yosemite and RME having some of the best drivers in the biz.
Anyone else having problems with this setup. I hope it's just a user (me) error so I'll keep plugging along. Any suggestions would be great!

I run pretty much the same setup but with RME UCX... On firewire via thunderbolt adapter. No issues.
Cheers

Cheers Wiz Thanks Wiz, I figured it's just me but wanted to start to pinpoint related issues if anyone had similar. I'm going to start over with my RME drivers and start narrowing this down. One more question - have you ever had problems with headphone monitoring when using outboard gear during mix time? I had this problem with Pro Tools also. Track with only play on right side of headphones with a bad sounding, very short delay. Everything fine on my monitors but headphones not so much?

I've had this happen on a Babyface - only one channel heard when plugged into the headphone out on the unit. If I plug the headphones into the headphone jack on the breakout cable, then plug them back into the jack on the unit, it's back to normal and both channels are audible.

I haven't had that...
I would suggest.. I know its a pain..
Go back to your time machine you did , after installing Yosemite and before you loaded stuff on your Mac.. (You did that right? 8) )
Then instal the latest drivers etc
If you haven't done the Time machine thing.. then a clean instal might be the best way to go.
Sometimes losing half a day to that kind of thing is actually faster and better in the long run.
cheers
Wiz
PS yell out if you need help

Thanks, wiz...not really anything I can't figure out...it's just SLOW for me right now. No probs... Its always a little frustrating... for sure. When I jumped from Sonar to Logic (previously having jumped from Cubase to Sonar.. and before that Notator to Cubase.. after coming from Cubase on Atari 8) ) I didn't have any time pressure.. and just started fresh... What might work is subscribing for a month to one of those tutorial sites (macprovideo) you used to be able to get a month trial for a dollar.. 8) ... and watching every logic video with a pen and paper in your hand and furiously write down whats applicable... I have done that before... but, yell out if you are stuck cheers Wiz

wiz, we talked about this earlier, but can you control the aux send pan independant of the fader pan? I really like that PT will do either or, but considering PT is going by the wayside for me rather quickly, i need to really start researching other daw options. thanx

I just completely deleted all traces of RME drivers, firmware, .txt, .plist (I have no clue what that is) and ran a session for about 20 mins. So far, so good but we'll see tomorrow night when I do some tracking.... Still haven't got the outboard insert/headphone monitoring problem figured out but that's been going on for awhile and was a problem when I was working in PT10 as well. I'll go to the RME forum for that solution.

This might help some of you PT guys who are considering jumping ship and going to Logic: realgearonline.com/attachment/download/2186

Are these different than the crap PT key commands included in Logic? I'll certainly try them out. I've almost convinced myself to just try to learn Logic without the crutch - or I'll go somewhere else and not have any clue how to use it...
BTW - this Gearsluts thing looks pretty cool. They should keep at it.

Edited my last post with the previous link...
