Johnkenn your using the Apollo now??? Are you monitoring through a separate D/A? Im asking because I am ditching the Omni/Native Thunderbolt setup and was thinking about going back to the Apollo because of the workflow. I would still use the Burl for A/D and ad something to the D/A side (D-box or svart's d/a.)

There's just so much more flexibility..... it really makes sense to build yourself a rig with UA and then a Native DAW now. This is the most impressive thing I've seen UA do as of yet. At least the modern day UA  |

Remember with svart's box you have AD and DA and spdif out with dbox just DA no spdif out so extra conversion
Dbox is a great unit but scart's also gives you 2 xtra AD high end channels
New apollo console uses "star" clock over tbolt to delivering synch to aggregate apollo (s) device up to 4 and twin can act as monitor and master contoller to racked apollo's.
Since svart's box sends spdif and apollo can slave to spdif, interested to see if you can add's svart's box on spdif run apollo's tbolt and have console 2 workflow on mac
As you can map all i/o to your daw using the new flex audio functionality: this all sounds very interesting !

Yeah - I actually use the Burl B2 for AD on the way in and and for master clock and then SPDIF to a Ross Martin 1794 DA. It sounds dramatically better than the Apollo itself. The RM DA sounds just a tiny bit better when everything is locked to the Burl clock - but it's negligible. Looking forward to seeing how Svart's box compares! |
