I don't see much about this line of gear, so I post this: I just discovered that Mammoth Cave Audio has put up a new video about their flagship piece, the Wooly Mammoth Deluxe: I have one on order, and I cannot hardly stand the wait! (10 weeks lead-time, but I hear they added a new guy to help with the work load)

I have a passive controller on order (before xmas) 7 weeks lead-time. Fantastic how much work Tim is getting. Happy to wait for a hand made product.

Thanks for the support guys! Very much appreciated. I wish I could lesson the lead time but the orders stack up faster than I can build them. It's appreciated that some of the recent reviews have noted the build quality and craftsmanship under the hood though. I just wish i could crank them out faster. I am taking on a new helper later in February who will be working on most of the DI's, controllers and other products, but I'll still be doing all of the Wooly Mammoths myself. Too hard to get somebody to make them up to par. I'm a bit picky and the one time I did have a helper, they got done about 25% of what I did per night, plus I went back and re-soldered the majority of their work so it visually looked "my way" anyways. The extent of the crazy point to point on them is just too confusing too get somebody else to build efficiently. Even after building a lot of them, I'm still at a point where just the soldering alone on a Wooly Mammoth Deluxe takes me 3.5 days, plus all the time on paint, silkscreen and chassis population. The past 5 months have been quite the learning experience and I drastically underestimated just how fast I can push myself, but I'm cranking them out as fast as I can. I will continue to make everything in house though. I still love watching each piece get built from scratch.
As soon as I can finish some more design work, there will be round two of new products coming out, including a transformer based summing console that has some of the features of the Wooly Mammoth and possibly a tube output gain stage. Visually it will have the look of the typical MCA gear, but will be laid out kind of like a miniature vintage UA console. Homage to Bill Putnam, who's early visual designs played an obvious inspiration on my own layouts. Once I have the help in place, I'm finally going to cave on letting some people distribute part of the line too. Distribution will be kept to the smaller less complex products though. The Larger units like the Wooly Mammoth will be kept custom shop only, since there is just no way for me to crank them out on a 3rd party distribution level at this time. Not without jacking the price way up and I am avoiding that at all costs. With a little streamlining of the company over the next few months, maybe next year I can finally break way long enough to get to AES and NAMM.

I'm watching this video at least a couple times a day now. It is amazing how much variety of tone and colour can be imparted with it. Just plain awesome.

Well, I've looked at the DIY Colour kits, the STS kit, and even the Sonic Farms Creamware stuff -- but for the money and variety this device offers, this is a no-brainer for folks that want analog, and especically don't have colour boxes already.

480p was a poor choice for a YouTube audio demonstration, does not inspire confidence. Looks cool, though. Similar idea to the Louder Than Liftoff Silver Bullet, which is not yet released.
I think that 2-bus processing is a really rewarding thing to focus on during a mix, so I like stuff like this.

I'll run off and upload a better quality version shortly if you want to check back. Hopefully I'll get a better demo made soon as well. I did this one quickly while I had a unit at my studio for some testing before it shipped. So many people kept asking for one so I filmed this quick to sort of hold people over until I could have someone put one together for me. Thanks for checking it out though.
