Toontracks is having a real sale right now, and I'd like to expand my collection a little. I have the NY Vol. 1 pack and the Music City pack.
Are the EZ-X expansion packs compatible with Superior Drummer?
Also, I can’t figure out if they come with any new beats. A long time back I bought one expansion pack, (I forget the name), and there were no new beats, and as it turned out, I never use the sounds anyway. Even if there are no new beats, I’ll buy the Americana set, but it would be nice to have some new beats to go with it.
I’m also comparing the Nashville sounds, (which is commercial Country radio-ish) to the Indie Folk, which has some cool sounds. Have anyone used the Nashville, or Indie Folk kits, do you like them, or have a preference?
Thanks.
Martin

I've got all of them...Yes - they work with Superior Drummer. I really like The Classic a lot. Not sure I would go for any of the EZX's over some of the SD2 packs...or go for Fairfax 2 in Addictive Drums. One little thing I like about SD is the snare roll/drag that is usually on the D# key. I just find it a lot more simple to make convincing sounding tracks with it...but FF2 DOES sound better.

Thanks John. I'll look into the Classic. The sale is for $58, so if the EZ-X packs work, i'll probably go there.
Next time i spend more than $150 for something digital, it's going to be the UAD Ocean Way plug. Just spreading out funds as best I can. I'm looking for new monitors now, the Adam A7X has run its course for me.

I'm still not clear if the EZ Drummer packs come with beats as well as sounds. It would be nice to have a few more midi beat patterns to choose from.
At the Toontrack website it says this when I cart the EZ-X packs, ""Notice that "Indie Folk EZX" requires one of these products (EZdrummer, EZdrummer 2) to operate".
Well, I don't have either of those, so it's not being made clear that it will work with Superior Drummer, even though I'm sure you're right John.

It works on my SD platform...and yes, I've always gotten midi loops when I bought the EZ packs.

I'm not sure if by "beats" you mean what they're calling "midi grooves", but according to this page at Toontrack, "EZX-s are EZdrummer expansion packs. They cover many more musical styles and are complete with MIDI grooves to represent the genre’s typical patterns, tempos and feels." Hope that helps.

Wow, thanks guys, that a big help. Toontracks has it for $53, but $40 sure sounds better, I'll look around.

Got it! You guys saved me $26. I would normally have looked around before buying straight from Toontrack, but figured their sale would be the same as elsewhere, but clearly I was mistaken.
I got the Americana pack and the Indie pack. I finally have brushes and mallets!
Because I use Logic, I have their "Drummer" app. It has around 15 or 20 drum kits there. Apple's designers seem to have been well aware of Superior Drummer because they're quite similar. I thought, why buy Toontrack kits when Apple's giving me lots of them. I can just copy midi from Superior Drummer and then use any Apple kit, but they're just not as good, even though you can certainly make great tracks with Apple's supplied Drummer.
I think I'm happy, just need to see how often I'll use these new drum kits now.
I need to get better at tweaking the SD drums sounds themselves. Sometimes the snare hits are just too hard. I can lower velocity in the Piano Roll, but I know Superior has some editing features. I hope they're not too difficult to figure out.
