One more "aside". There is such a small box for country melody. There are no 7 chords, so nothing that resembles the Beatles. There is not really any 6/8 because that feels "dated" now. I could go on, but I got lost at "I don't want this to sound anything like the Beatles." About 6-7 years ago, I was writing with a huge songwriter - still massively successful to this day. I had just had a song on radio that had a F#/Am7 in it (I stole it from "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You") and he laughingly said, "Come on man, play one of those faggy chords..." It was just the oddest thing I've ever heard.

You should look into the bluegrass market a little more, John. They aren't gonna be house note size checks, but Jerry Salley has done very well along with Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle and many others at having consistent mailbox money from writing.

Wow! There was the same thing a wile ago for Nickleback songs so it's not a new "phenomenon". Homogenized music. Joey Moi (whom I don't know but I'm sure he's a nice guy and I would bastardize myself for a cut to provide for my family right now) was a member of Nickleback. He now produces Forida Georgia Line. The biggest thing in Country right now. They sound just like Nickleback. Actually they sound just like a country group from the early 90's called Blackhawk. Remember them? Only they didn't song about beer every song. Or "feel good" or whatever it is they're calling it these days.

Doesn't have to be a waltz to be 3/4 or 6/8. Plenty of cool rockin' stuff in those sigs.

Thx good for a laugh, concerning and inspiring
I'm no pro but this stuff is SO exactly why I don't write.
I admit to writing to for myself first: if I am nOTC genuinely engaged and enthused about something I'm writing I don't do it : period .
Guess I'll never make the big time!

It always reminds me of going on a date with a sexy girl that has no intellect whatsoever. She's sexy, but I feel dumb.

My favorite one of these will always be the Greymatter CD, nearly two hours of the GD playing Dark Star live mashed together.
