First thing i have recorded with the new U47 clone, an ampeg svt with 4x10 svt cab.
I started with a md421, sounded good.
I tried the u47 since it's commonly used on bass cabs.. great.
Now i gotta get a SVT. Damnit.

The mic capsule itself is probably 6-8" away from the cone. The capsule is pointed exactly halfway between the outer edge of the cone and the edge of the dust cap.

While the owner of the SVT was not looking, I got my drill and removed the handle on the side of the cabinet to see what speakers were used. I found a pair on Ebay for real cheap and bought them. I plan on making my own 2x10 cabinet to emulate this sound.
I also found that Bugera makes an SVT clone, the BVV3000, for 600$. With enough looking around I'm sure I can find a broken one and fix it up for cheap to complete my studio rig.
I was messing around with this tone the other day again, and it's a damn near perfect rock bass tone with my Cort bass. It's round and defined without being too boomy on the very low end. I didn't even have to cut the lows like I usually do.
