The Church of the Coffee Connection. Where do I sign up? Haha! That's the name of the coffee house in the facility, there's also an indoor playground for the kids. And another large room for watching pro sports games etc..

Lakewood in Texas is the largest in the USA with a 43,500 capacity. Joel Osteen has received a lot of criticism because of the gigantic house he lives in. Apparently from donations? I wouldn't care for something that large. Mine is full of great people and lots of young people.

I'm not familiar with this band, but gospel players are FANTASTIC. When I was at Berklee you had to have top level performance rankings to get into the gospel ensembles. Even their rehearsals used to generate a small crowd wanting to check them out.

He actually does amazingly well with his books and with the success of the first one, "your best life now" or something like that, stopped taking a church salary. Instead, he is the biggest supporter of the church. Hard to believe that the church was started in a feed store (for farm animals) by his dad. When his dad died, he almost did not pastor the church. It was with a lot of encouragement that he came out the video department to lead the church. It's been interesting to watch them over the years, as a Houston resident. The original building (when Joel took over) was already quite large and the story of how they ended up with a basketball arena is a one in a million shot kind of story. Of of the pastors at Lakewood serves on the board of directors of my parents' ministry. He is a no nonsense kind of guy, a former lawyer. I've asked him a lot of questions over the years as he is in the inner circle, so to speak.

He's definitely inspirational, and I suppose if you draw all those people there should be some sort of reward. I just joined this church, it used to be at two different locations, first was 100 seats, then 250, now 1,000. The Pastor is very inspirational as well.

We could have a great conversation about song writing and success in the "worship" or music for church congregations sphere and Hillsong Church would be at the center. They have teams, not a team, of really great writers, dozens of albums and several individual who found success both there and in the CCM sphere. First there was the Hillsong band. Then, around 2000(?) Hillsong United started as the youth band and they have all grown up. Now, I believe there is another band coming up in the church.

I'm currently producing my own but it's instrumental. A local friend of mine Tracy Ferrie played bass for Stryper back in the day, he now plays for Boston. I wish I could sing better because it's tough finding musicians for this around here. Perhaps I'll meet some Sunday mornings.
