Started building a pair of these today. I spent a lot of time sorting the resistors since they do not come labeled and I'm color blind. lol. Other than that, I'm very excited to get started.

So what's your "capsule of choice" Ben?

So what's your "capsule of choice" Ben? Nothing but the best, a K67 capsule from Neumann. I raised the height of the mount like Chunger did, and I had to make a lead for the backplate. The Neumann cap takes M1.6 screws. They were tough to find in brass, but I got em!

So, the mic is complete. A quick audio test revealed that something is wrong. When the pad is off, there is no low end and the mic is really bright. If the pad is turned on, there is almost no high end, but it sounds like the low end is there. i've tripple checked all the connects and I can't find one thing wrong. Next step is to test every component. I can tell it's gonna be a great mic tho! ::facepalm::

Hi ben, take your time, measure the parts, hold the pcb very clean. Btw.: Measuring every single part you use does pay off always. Not only if you are color blind. This way you sooner or later save a lot of time debugging circuits...

It must have been a short somewhere because it works fine after taking apart and putting it back together again (three times). I built the second kit and it works great. These mics sound so sweet. Can't wait to put them through the paces. gevermil, it was a company in the UK selling model boat parts. Don't recall the name. I found it by chance while searching the internet.

Ben, what did you use for the body, is it the Neumann TLM67?

Ben, what did you use for the body, is it the Neumann TLM67? No, I used Chunger's body. It comes with the shockmount, too. the TLM67 body looks awesome, but it just was not cost effective enough. I feel Chunger's body looks pretty darn close. Close enough to save the $600-$1000 extra. You'd still have to change out the body tube as well, or else it will just look like a TLM67.
