I have a few people who ask me about gear and this came up in discussion recently the Lindell 18xs. Has anyone actually used one of these? Non valve Pultec style eq is what interests me the most on it. With all the buzz of the WA Pultec hitting our shores this year at AUS$950 it would be interesting to hear from a user on the Lindell 18XS on how they think it sounds. Having a look at the guts of one not sure about what to expect. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Doesn't look bad at all.
Obviously has two opamps with 2520 style footprints. Unshielded OEP style transformer. Relays for audio switching. Not sure what else you want to know.
The only thing that looks like it might be trouble are the Lorlin style rotary switches. Those have a tendency to go bad.

Am I seeing correctly that there looks to be only 1 x inductor for the EQ section?

Not sure you will get much feedback on Lindell products over here...don't mean that in a bad way - you're absolutely welcome to talk about it, though. Lindell is a moderator on Gearslutz and also a manufacturer. That conflict of interest was one of the many reasons I started this forum...

Yes I can see that is a problem, but I am trying to judge the unit on its own merits. Alas finding someone who actually has one to talk about it seems very odd. I cant seem to find any real life reviews on it other then the biased magazine stuff. I guess with the Warm Audio Pultec thing coming out in a couple of months it might make the Lindell 18xs redundant, but in Australia the WA Pultec is listing at AUS$950 and the Lindell unit is quite a bit cheaper then that here.

Not to debate, because I do agree about the conflict of interest, but just a bit about Tobias. After the little contact I've had with him I think his a super nice guy. As a former Harrison Series 12 owner he supported me before I bought mine. Also, for a manufacturer I find him to be pretty low key about his own brand when posting at GS. More helpful than promoting, which I find tasteful. I don't know anything about his products though, so back on topic!

Tobias is a nice guy, but over the years I have known many a nice guy who has built/ distributed crappy gear.

1st Gear Purchase for 2015? Okay I have been Umming and Arhing about the Lindel 18XS for some time now. I finally pulled the trigger, bought it & picked it up today. After playing around with it, I found it best to bypass the Instrument in and go DI through the MIC input for recording Bass guitar. I just pumped up the Pultec Style EQ to extreme and then using the Blend knob (which is not too linear but works better then some other Blend knobs on gear 2 x price I have used) adjusted accordingly to taste. Wow this thing is a really nice Bass guitar preamp and Eq for my Lakland Bass. I can see this being my new Bass preamp. Testing out on Vocals in a couple of weekends. Quick photos to show settings. I can see the Neve pre will now be sitting in the corner for a little while. Just added a quick little mp3 doodle of the unit with a little too much LA2 on it. Attachments:
