I think mine was the CV4 mod...although, maybe that doesn't count because it was started before 2014...the C5 mod too. Feel like it's perfect now. Oh...and a patchbay. Shannon

I think at this point, it is the Presonus Scepter S8's. I now know what balanced sound, sounds like.

mastering of my album by bob olhsson best money I spent this year. cheers Wiz Hey wiz - sorry to be a downer but I'm pretty sure @bob Olhsson screwed you on that mastering job. I find that I have to turn up the volume of parts of songs and even whole songs sometimes like the last track Walk Away. You have any idea how much of an inconvenience this is for me? Damn Obviously kidding - outstanding job!

A Revive Audio modded Altec|Lansing 8ch mixer, really good sound. Also a Sony MXP390, really nice EQs and sound. A friend lend me a Neve 500 1073LB, he doesn't use it so...6 months and counting, thinking of buying it I liked it more than the Great River pre. I should AB both. This year I moved the studio twice (dang landlords)...go figure.

I had the Neve 1073 lb for a night and was really shocked that it sounded so good. Love to shoot that out with the Heritage. I bet there wouldn't be much difference at all.

It sounds really good...I sold my Great River, loved it too but didn't like it used two slots. I planned to use the money to purchase two VP28s but had to move my studio...not my cup of tea.

Warm76.
If we're allowed instruments, Gibson SG with P90s.
Cheers, Geoff

On my 4-5 most recent album mixes I've felt quite content and felt my work has improved one small notch. Since I'm not doing anything different, I believe the Pulse techniques EQP-1As (with NOS tubes from Proaudiotubes) must be part of the reason.

PT11, Event 2030's (game changer for me). How are the 2030's? I really like 3 ways. On topic, RM Superbeast. Here's my get out of jail card. I don't have a lot of experience with higher end monitors.. Having said that I love them my room is well treated but these monitor's have transformed my mixing, Reverb tails, Bass ( I can hear it now), Vocal compression setting , sound scape . Full range monitoring is a game changer for me and mixing on the events translates very well to other systems. My first new mix on these monitor's sent to my mate his response "Everything is in the right place, what did you do?" Event 2030

For me, the RM converters, esp. the Superbeast made a huge difference. The godly Plinius power amp in class A mode. Both - best buys of the year. These both were game changes in the monitoring. A pair of Sonus Faber speakers surprised us, we got them quite cheap, they jumped up quite steep in pricing shortly afterwards. With a sub, these sounded excellent and we use them more often now than the originally much higher priced Cabasse speakers. (Which have a slightly better hi end, but are a tad more difficult in getting perfect tonal balance and stereo image.) Much more investments in monitoring these days - because you can only mix what you can hear IMO. Now it is good enough to match or surpass the Mytek AD. Next year possibly the Tascam 24Ao to get OTB again, depending on the first reviews. Having an eye on these....

Well, and i traded back my old Bogart SKC (blackstone finish) bass. That was great. It shows me, how i suck at bass playing nowadays. And there is no way i could blame it on the instrument anymore, because it doesn't limit anything...Stefan Hess (The Man behind Bogart basses), i sometimes hate you for building such excellent instruments.

Best purchase this year would be the MicRehab mod on my CV4 or the Amphion One18 monitors & amp. Both super good.
