I'm trying to come up with some ideas for original dance music. Has anyone ever tried drums or a drum machine or plugin through a Vocoder? At a slow tempo I'm curious what some beats would sound like. Anyone have a Roland VT-3 or something better they can make a couple samples with?

Very common thing to do to run drums through a vocoder in electronic music. First example that came to mind was this one from Underworld.

You could easily do all sorts of things beyond that. Feed it into delays, chop it up. Sidechain it to the beat, etc.
