The good news is, I just bought a Kemper...and promptly dropped my iPhone and shattered it in the parking lot. I'm 5 months away from my 2 year contract (AT&T) being eligible for an upgrade thingy...I absolutely REFUSE to pay full price for a new one. Anyone know what I can do? I see phones for sale on Craigslist, but how does that work?

How badly did you break it? Replacing the screen is a piece of cake, and costs <$50 for parts. If you don't want to do it yourself, I'm sure you can find a local shop to repair it for around $100.

If its 2 months go to sprint see what they offer with the cut your bill in half then go back to AT&T and ask for the manager, tell him all they need to do is give you a new phone to keep you! Or get in touch with the guys at Misson Repair see what they think it will cost to fix your current phone!

With CDMA carriers (sprint/verizon) you can report a phone lost/stolen which will disable the phone on their network. It might be different with ATT since they have SIM cards, but definitely make sure it's fully functional before you pay for it.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Ended up going to a local shop and having the screen replaced for $79 with a third party screen...got halfway home and it started randomly opening apps like it was doing when it was cracked. Took it back and he put in an Apple OEM screen and everything seems to be kosher. We will see, but so far, so good!
