I'd be interested to know how the apollo sounds after they mod it, not the duo but the apollo 8. I have several pieces of BLA gear, but I had them mod a Behringer ada8000 and until you hear that thing it can't be appreciated. The conversion is better than my ensemble, and the pre's are better than both the ensemble and apollo. I just pulled my ensemble out because of selling it, I originally used it to run 8 out into my PM8, I went to the apollo to go to the PM8 and the conversion on the Apollo in my opinion is far better than the ensemble. Feels much more open and detailed, wish I'd known that a long time ago. I loved the ensemble, but listening to the apollo now it seems like that was the culprit for my mixes lacking forward to back stage. The clock in the apollo is not great though. Switching between it's clock and the clock in my Sparrow is night and day. If they upgrade the signal path and do the decoupling, and it has the same amount of improvement as the ada8000 I might have to get this modded by them.
I've heard a lot of people profess them to be snake oil but in my experience they are miracle workers. To each is own I suppose, but i know my ears and there is w/o a doubt significant improvement in the mods and their line of gear is excellent.
