Everyone give a voice here, I need some feedback. If you could take the sounds from two or even three microphones and mold them into a completely new microphone, what would they be? Also, give a little comment on why, what is it you like about them. Would you think microphone that could switch circuits like switching a polar pattern be even cooler than molding two sounds into one?
I'll start
I'd love to have a microphone that had the nuance of a Ela M 25x but also the nuance of a U67. And why, because those are my two favorite microphones made. U47 comes in third, and C12 in fourth. For me, I could go either way on switching between circuits or molding two sounds. Hell, maybe even have both. Have one setting of 251/U67 and another of C12/U67.
I've always kind of wondered this, always had this question at the back of my mind, seems like a cool discussion.

Interesting question, but honestly I have no idea, I've never thought about it.

i want C12 extension with ribbon butter in the middle. You can get close to that with a Royer and an RPQ.

I designed a device to do those things. Quality mic pre, splitter, sends, returns, filters, phase adjust, blend and there you go.
It allows you to use 2 mics with an external or internal mic preamp, filter them so one does highs, one does the lows, phase adjust to line them up and a mixer to blend them into one signal.
Never got any interest to build them or sell the designs.
