Anyone doing this? What are some quality options that don't require a second on the house? 8) I'm looking at the bla microclock ll? Probably need BNC connect.

There seems to be controversy regarding clocking. From a technical perspective, many (most?) say that internal is the best, with the primary clock being your AD if you clock multiple devices. This is what I do, off of my Burl Bomber. But there are PLENTY of testimonials about how the use of a bad-ass clock such as Antelope's 10M enhances the tonality of all converters in a system. I'm not sure what advantage you get using a lower-cost external clock, but I'm interested as well. Enquiring minds want to know!

Interrnal is "BEST" according to Dan Lavry - and others. But I'll be darned if I haven't heard some systems with a Big Ben that sounded pretty good. If you've got multiple things to clock, well, then the decision is already made for you. SOMEthings getting clocked externally. I think jitter is kind of like harmonic distortion - the devil to some, savior to others. Choose your poison. Whatever I bought, I'd want to hear it in MY studio to make the decision. Too much snake oil out there...

Micro clock is certainly for real.... I've heard that compared with some high-end clocks and preferred it. I've always used WC and put a T on every device until the last one in the chain, then just take a BNC connector and solder a 75ohm resistor between the two gangs to terminate and that's about as solid as you can get.

From what Ive read, the trick is to get the un musical ringing harmonics out and leave the musical ones, I don't know though, what I do know is that when I get my rig going here, Ill do some listening, returning or keeping? It'd be interesting to try a 10m for an hour of so, anyone want to lend me a spare $7000 for a day? 8)

Like all this kind of stuff in audio...
I think "better" or "best" gets us into trouble...
now....
"different" sits fine.. and you might like one or the other.
Best, like ear wax is in the ear of the beholder.

well, from the standpoint that clocking represents accuracy, and jitter represents inaccuracy, the most stable and lowest jitter clocks are indeed better, antelope does the oven stabilizing thing because temp fluctuations increase jitter, but i do believe it goes beyond that and into the realm of actual harmonics creation or artifacting? All else being equal, this is probably where we'd easily get into the you say tomato, i say tomahto territory.

my point is...
you, me, him....... might like the sound of a clocking system that is technically "deficient" compared to another that is technically superior.

Function. Feel free to buy whatever box makes you feel like your harmonics are aligned with your chakras.
I've clocked externally...internally....swapped between tacking and mixing....over 15 years of digital production. No--never noticed a difference. When I thought I did....swapping back and forth said I absolutely didn't.
