Just an update that I am really enjoying the Silver Bullet. I haven't gotten into a full mix with it yet, but yesterday I used it to track acoustic guitars on the A preamp setting with a Royer 122 MKII and I really like the results. I have the mix ins and outs patched into the external insert of the 2Bus+, so it is easy to hit a button and take it in and out of the circuit for comparison. So far I've just been using Dr. Bill's starting points from the manual but the best way I can explain it is that it seems to make the sound bigger without increasing the volume. Again, so far all I have used it on is something new I'm working on with a couple acoustic guitar tracks, bass, and a scratch vocal, but I am really liking it. Very happy with the preamps.

Yeah, the preamps are a nice bonus, eh? BTW, there's a hardware bypass by switching from Mix to Trk/Byp as well. Byp being bypass. Have fun!

You guys beat me to it. Let me know your thoughts on the video. This is the first third party review / overview that anyone has done. Bill and I would love to get everyone's feedback for future demo videos we plan to make ourselves. What did you like? What did you not like? What would you like to see more of? thanks! Brad

Brad That video is forcing me to buy a silver bullet. I would like to see more eq options, and a slot to add analog plugs, like for the chroma. I think I could get by just fine with it just the way it is because of the routing options.

I'm back from a few weeks away and running my first mix from scratch through the SB. Wow... I am thoroughly enjoying the newfound headroom and extra depth and width. It's like mixing on a bigger soundstage. It also is way easier on my ears over many hours. Seriously diggin it! Now I'm gonna have to figure out how I wanna utilize the extra sonic space I gain with the SB. It's like I was given 25% more space to work with. And that means less sacrifices to get a mix to gel at commercial levels

Hey Darren,
Can you elaborate on what you mean by "extra sonic space"?
thanks, Brad

Sure BradM - Mixing ITB or Hybrid with a combination of ITB and Outboard gear, it all comes down to the master buss (converters used, mix buss chain, etc.) If there's a bottleneck that is going to occur, that's where it's going to happen. In the past, I've had a number of world-class bus compressors in that position, and although they have served me very well, when trying to compete with hot commercial levels, there is always a limit. You can only push it so far until things start to close up. The Silver Bullet allows me to push that limit further without negative artifacts and without closing up as quickly. The SB keeps things sounding more musical. The mix is as loud or louder than before but sounds less "strained" if you will. And it sounds wider and deeper as well, hence my choice of words when I said "extra sonic space."

Well, the BradM & drbill Silver Bullet has reached the Billboard Chart. I have been working with the silver bullet over the last several months, and finally some of that particular work is finally making its way to the Billboard chart. A song that I mixed on the silver bullet for a client is currently number 14 on the Billboard smooth jazz chart, and looks like it’s very likely moving towards top 10. Of course you never know where these things will end up. But this song is a true testament to the sonics of the silver bullet. The sonics of the tracks I received to mix were difficult to say the least and the Silver bullet helped me take the whole song to a pretty decent sonic level in spite of that. The artist is a talented piano player and good guy - his name is Dave Bradshaw, Jr. and the song is called “Flipside.” See the link below - and forgive the YouTube compression sound loss. I also have some more material I’m working on now that I am producing and mixing with the SB, and it is turning out sonically sweet. I expect there will be more songs on the charts soon with the SB. I’m using the silver bullet on everything I’m currently producing and mixing.

NICE! Sounds great. Can't wait to hear one that you have had your hands on from start to finish!!!! I’ll look forward to sharing material that has been done start to finish on the silver bullet Once it is released. What a difference that makes! I was recently blessed to do a mix for one of the most notable gospel artists out there for a major TV network. I can’t mention any details yet - but after it’s released I can. The Silver Bullet delivered big time on that one! And it’s a totally different thing from the mix I posted here. It’s got an urban-gospel-R&B vibe with a Rap and a well-known pop singer as well. The SB made my job SO much easier

It's great to hear more quality audio mixed through the Silver Bullet by drsax.
Kudo's also to drsax for risking investment in a couple nuskool audio tools designed by enthusiasts here and elsewhere in our world. His work demonstrates the tool value is right there in front of us.

As soon as I am flush once again a pair of chop shops is a must buy! Anybody see the behind the gear in this months TapeOp? Good to see Brad getting some press! Brad and our own Chris AKA SVART & Jeff Steiger are at the moment my 3 favorite designers who I can't wait to see what they bring us next! All 3 are super talented, bring us great gear and are pretty cool dudes! I wish I had their talents and skill sets!

Brad's a rocket scientist. Seriously, he is. Don't ever ask him what he used to do. You'd have to have TS clearance, and he still probably would get busted. He was on course to be a NASA goldenboy until he found guitars and recording studio's - and subsequently figured out chicks dig guys with guitars in recording studios. After that, it was all downhill for Lockheed and NASA. But look at what WE got out of the deal!!!! Silver Bullets, Chroma's, Chop Shops and a bunch of new stuff......
