Lots of people using the VP28's on the 2 bus and reviews are very positive. Anyone have any experience with a pair of Great River pres on the mix bus? I'd really like to add this texture to my mix chain and would like to get people's thoughts and descriptions of how these sound.

I tend to go for some tubes on the mix buss myself. I should give the GR's and the RTZ's a try though!

In all my experimentation doing this for years, I've found both Neve and API topologies have their positives and negatives. Sometimes you want one, another time you need the other. Sometimes both cascaded. And to complicate a "simple" choice, the reality is that it's all about how you "drive" them into each other. If I can drop in a shameless plug.....this is exactly what Brad McGowan and I designed the Louder Than Liftoff Silver Bullet to do. And it's great at it.
