So what does 'ends in NaN mean?' Does the site wait until the lowest possible price is reached ..or is there a window of time? Is this explained somewhere on the site and I totally missed it? That's a bug we're currently working on fixing. Lots of issues with Internet Explorer (does anyone still use IE anymore?) but our web dev is pretty busy at the moment. And wiz, sorry about that... UPS is just not willing to work with us on international shipping until we get our shipping volumes up. Meeting with them this week, hopefully with good results! I know some of the deals on the site are underwhelming at best, but we're going to start shifting our focus to small manufacturers and specialty boutique items pretty soon here, that's when the real fun starts! I order a lot of stuff from the US (I'm in Canada), and UPS is awful. All kinds of extra charges, customs, duties, taxes, yeeeech! Anything I've received through USPS has been great, no extra charges of any kind. I'm not sure if USPS costs more at your end, but I'd be willing to pay a little more up front instead of getting hit with a bunch of seemingly random charges on the back end.

Jesse 1. Get to know your postman! Amazing what he / she can do for you, one of my dogs , Gus the 120 Golden who passed, Loved our old mail lady and had the subs reaching for pepper spray when he saw the uniform and wanted to say hi! You would be surprised what they can do! 2. Find the right post office / time way cheaper than UPS/FEDEX. 3. Claims are solo much easier with the post office.

My dad was a Postmaster for 33 years...and you couldn't find me within 10 miles of a Post Office for the last ten years...Until I found my nice little country Nolensville Post Office. Freaking beautiful. 5 minutes in and out. Super nice people. Cheap shipping. Back rubs all around...

So here is the issue so far. I just got an email about the SM7B being the lowest price. I checked the site and it's $3xx right now. I thought, "huh, doesn't seem like much of a deal", so I shot my big box dealer a quick email for a quote. No haggling on my part, just a quick message... $2xx. Significantly better deal, right off the bat. If people are going to pay for memberships at your site, the deals need to really be smoking, and they're not yet. JUst my opinion though.

There isn't one price on that site that I couldn't beat going to my normal dealers.

There isn't one price on that site that I couldn't beat going to my normal dealers. R Randy, the former Big Dealer retail manager speaking here, yeah your dealer is going to be able to beat these prices, Look There are probably more SM7s sitting on the warehouse shelf at FCS right now than he will sell via this buy, you think his 1 time buy is ever going to get the cost of the guys who have " The Shure Fullcompass Dealer award " yes they named the award after them because they were top every year. Most are going to be quoted what ever MAP is , so this may be a deal, and he might even get cut off if the price is on the site and it if the Current MAP agreement defines it as advertising . But I probably get better prices than you do on a lot of this and I signed up because well, for a small boutique Manufacturer a large organized group buy order can mean a deep discount. Rule Number 1 of buying anything if someone has a written best price guarantee , if you work hard you can find a better price.

Yeah, we knew that this would be a problem going into this. A lot of manufacturers give unbelievably larger margins for big box stores like MF, Amazon, etc. compared to small business dealer prices. The problem with getting a business like this started is that we have no way to prove to manufacturers that we're able to sell large volumes very quickly. Until we get to that point, we won't really have too much buying power in terms of negotiating lower dealer prices. It's all in our plans to slowly make a power creep with the big manufacturers, which will obviously take some time. Looking at our prices objectively, yeah, I myself would probably only be interested in one or two of the group buys we have right now because of the irrelevant discounts. But it's where we have start, I suppose. We've wanted to shift our focus to smaller builders because they are more often 1. willing to participate 2. more eager to get products out the door 3. are more helpful in cross-promoting. That said, if any of you know any small pro audio manufacturers (like Shinybox or maybe even something like Microphone-Parts) give me a heads up!

Then truly start small and don't offer items that can be beat, it could be your bane otherwise? i'd suggest sticking to the smaller manu's for some time, if any random Joe(or jess 8) discovers that they can make a simple search/phone call and get a better deal, they will simply not revisit your website. JMO TBC, the guys that would partake regularly on your type of site are the guys who are way into it, they're savvy and looking for the best deals, you can't have them second guessing if you want to keep em.

Thanks for the input, Tony. Makes a lot of sense. I'll talk with the rest of my guys and see if we can come up with an immediate solution.

I may be interested. I need to read the thread and catch myself up on how the site works. But I'm intrigued. Maybe Sinasoid can get in touch?
thanks, Brad

I kept trying to sign up and got nowhere. I registered, but when I go to sign in it tells me I need at least a basic membership. When I click on that, it asks me to register, which I've already done, so I'm going in circles..

Wow - that's an excellent deal (quite a bit less than I paid, and I thought I was getting a deal)
FWIW, I had to reset my password (clicking the link in the password reset email twice) to get into the store.

Their slogan is "Power to the People." Except that the people can't access their site. I tried multiple times and gave up.
