Been listening to the new Civil Wars record.
Great production imo. Great talent, vocals are amazing. Beautiful reverbs tails. Lots of space in the production.
Love their sound!
Its a pity their not touring together though.

I bought their first record but won't be buying this one. Joy's.voice tends to annoy me after awhile. If she would just sing without so much of the theatrics I would like it more.
But your right, it's a great sounding record. Actually better than the first I think.

I just listened on itunes...but the sound didn't particularly blow me away...Someone mentioned Ryan Adams "Ashes and Fire"...now that sounded awesome.

Listen to Dust to dust & same old same old.
Like the vocal sound on those tracks. Maybe call it chemistry, i dont know. Its believable to me
But yeah, her voice can get a bit too much after a while. Exactly what my wife reckons.
Use to feel like this about Natalie from the Dixie Chicks. After a couple of tracks its enough.

Didn't Buddy Miller and Robert Plant use the Civil War's studio to do the Band of Joy record in? Or am I confusing that with someplace else.

I heard From this Valley, I like it but I can see how her voice could wear on some people after a while. I like the production on Underwoods Blown Away CD but her "rock" type yelling gets to me.

Carrie is a smokeshow. Mmmmm. You went to Berklee? I know a bunch of people that went there.

Her voice is melodramatic, and I could see it getting on ones nerves, but it's oh so sweet in small doses.

Like the sound of the acoustic as well. JP is a good player

I understand that they are kinna on the outs with one another citing "creative differences". Wouldn't surprise me if JP hasn't told her the same thing that I don't like. "Just cut the bullshit and sing into the can" lol
